teacher training

Who, and Fewer! :madman:

:p

Good spot. However in my defence I'm going to call the facts that a) it was stupid o'clock at night, and b) as a Maths teacher I can use whatever letters I like to represent the thing I'm talking about.

Now, I'm going to make a swift exit to try and get away with it.....

Made a few phone calls today, I have to go nightschool to do a GCSE in maths (my worst subject ever) I just hope that has been dumbed down since I failed it in 1986. Tried to find out how many cap points I can take from my nursing degree to a teaching degree but good old Angia University didn't get back to me.

You could always borrow my Maths GCSE..... :P

Im thinking about going into teacher. I am aware that you need 2 degrees to get in so the 1st would be history and the second I presume would be the teacher training course. Does anybody know how much you get paid throughout the training?

I did a PGCE at Anglia Ruskin uni in ICT at Secondary School level. You get £9000 bursary for a year which then gets paid monthly into your bank account. It helped me out a lot for travel, books etc

I wouldn't recommend using Anglia Ruskin to study at though :)

I done my nurse training there, 3 years of hell, 160 students to a small class with not enough desks or chairs, teachers not turning up, over an hour journey by car (the new A130 wasn't built) and the same with the train. And to top it off it was always the same people that were late (when I say late I don't mean 10 minutes more like an hour) every day.
I also had to go back there to do my Mentorship in Public Service Course although we had a teacher and a classroom the studying facilities were still crap, and finally most of my honours degree (until the NHS withdraw the funding)

Am looking into doing a GTTP myself.

My advice if you are looking at this route (although i have only been in the job a week so take as much/little of it as you want) is to get into a school that you know offer the GTTP and make them aware of your future plans so they know from the start and can help you along the way.

I believe you can only do a GTTP in the same subject as your degree so if that is not what you would want to teach then perhaps the PGCE route is best for you? Also, you often need experience in teaching/school environment before you are considered. This is one reason i am currently a Learning Support Assistant which i plan to be for 12-18months at the school i am employed in before applying for the GTTP.
