Glad someone mentioned that

But I can't think of another bad decision so he must have done well!

Paul Sturrock was complaining a week ago that he wants Premiership refs banned from lower league games after Steve Bennett (I think) sent his keeper off against Leeds.

Mr Rennie's performance does show it's more the personality of the ref that's more important. IMO, Bennett gives off the impression he's the most important person on view for Premiership games so is probably twice as vain in the Championship. Rennie just seemed to be enjoying a night's work.

He just seemed to have a good rapport with the players and this meant that when he made a wrong/contentious decision, and there were some, the remonstrating was cut to a minimum. That way, he always had control of the game.

Yes, I cant imagine him being to bothered by Maher giving him some stick when he is used to 40k Scousers or 70k Mancs or 45k Geordies wanting him dead

And both times was Freddy !

I've seen him have a couple of shockers so I was a little bit worried. I thought he was absolutely fantastic last night. Other refs would have thrown a few cards around and ruined a thoroughly entertaining game of football.

It was also noticeable that he talked a heck of a lot to the players last night and not just when play had stopped. There was one crunching and slightly late tackle in the first half (I think from Gutts) where he played the advantage and had a quiet word on the way past.

Two decent refs in one season, who'd have thought that ?

I thought he made a few mistakes to be honest.

I know Hammell scored from the free-kick, but he should have let the game go as Ginge would have put it away anyway, based on his performance when he came on.

He did NOT give a blatant penalty to us.

I thought he was also petulant at times, but hat's off to him for adding a little extra additional time for the Norwich sub after the board went up. That allowed us to score!!!

So glad someone started a thread on Uriah . 9/10 from the Prittlwell pannel. So unusual for the game not to stop every 90 seconds or so he let the players play like grown ups and got respect in return. Amongst the best ive seen live and that includes Colina when he reffed England 4 Croatia 2 in Lisbon Euro 04 .

Agreed!

When you compare the game on saturday officiated by Beeby and last night's game with Uriah Rennie, the difference between the two is overwhelming!

Rennie made the game last night that little bit more memorable, by being unmemorable during the game.

Very Impressive!

That may well have been me, but then I always try to slate the refs in the vain hope that it will give us some advantage.

In the cold light of day I think he did OK overall, nothing spectacular. Light years ahead of what we had Saturday mind.

Rennie reffed the Orient-Brentford game on Saturday, and was effing superb. Best ref we've had in years, so it doesn't surprise me that he had another good game at Roots Hall.
