The Southend Echo has been sensationally banned from SUFC. They are not allowing in reporters or photographers. More news as I hear them.

Lets wait to hear any details - I imagine that if this has happened, it will be because the club is seriously unhappy about something Chris has done - maybe he has been trying a bit too hard to dig up scoops on new signings etc.

Either way, I imagine (and hope) that whatever has led to this will be resolved amicably soon.

Might be something to do with the unveiling of the sponsor, but for this I'm only speculating.

I hope it is resolved soon. At least before the season starts.

Hope it isn't the case of SUFC getting too big for their boots cause of being in the championship!!!

Chris Phillips is a good reporter and at the end of the day is in a job to get us news about everything SUFC.

Didn't SUFC also ban Bernie Friend for something similar??

Dont SUFC like reporters speaking their mind?? Do they want to censor everything!

Nothing in it at all on SUFC

Back Page has bits on Col Ewe, Grays, Canvey, England & Arena Essex.

Nothing on any of the inside pages either

The sun get them all the time, and how many clubs have banned the sun's reporters??

Perhaps our new kit next season should be the same as Germany?

Ferguson won't speak to the Beeb since they did a story on one of his sons being allegedly a less than scrupulous football agent. Any after match interviews are done by Quieroz.

Hope this is a storm in a teacup as our other news outlets BBC Essex & Essex FM don't exactly fall over themselves with SUFC news & stories.

I don't suppose that the Echo group will be too worried. They will pack the paper with news on Westham and other London clubs, Col******r United, Canvey and the local non-league scene.

The club may come to miss the outlet for local publicity though!  

No free adverts for insureandgone!

Just a thought, but what about all the supporters who don't have internet access. How do they find out the latest on the club.

If this has happened it will be one of the biggest PR **** ups the club has made in recent years.

The Echo has always been the paper for SUFC. I agree with Beaver, this is a massive PR **** up!

The Echo is always worth a read for anything related to SUFC, i'd hate the partnership to end.

But guess we have big club syndrome now, run by a dictatorship
