SZ Player Sponsorship - PAUL FURLONG

McNasty

Member
If we have any players for next season ShrimperZone will do our usual sponsorship of a Southend United player *

Please be prepared to part with your money, in return you could win the signed shirt, match tickets etc.

*Subject to terms and conditions.(and enough contributors.)

what about being the sponsor for herd? be nice to get behind him first season as a pro?

We all know that whoever we sponser will have one of their legs fall off in a freak circus accident and suddenly develop all the footballing ability of an arthritic badger so I think we should leave our best prospect well alone!

Ken, not having been involved at this stage last season, would you kindly elaborate for those of us who are relative newbies please?

Broadly speaking, we try to sell 'shares' of £10 a piece in the sponsorship to everyone. A share gets you an entry in to the raffle, the prizes of which are:

Signed shirt of sponsored player
Two entries to a sponsor's dinner
Two tickets to a home game and chance to meet sponsored player.

From an SZ perspective it gets our name in the programme every home game, plus it's a good way to get involved in sponsorship for those who don't fancy shelling out the full whack - i.e. over £400 - to sponsor a player themselves.

We'd love to do it this year, but we would need pledges to cover most of the cost. Last year we fell well short and the remaining costs had to be covered by the owners. :'(

Thanks James, would certainly be up for supporting that. How do you decide who to sponsor?

It's a case of first come first served really. We managed to get Peter Clarke last year, but if we tarry too long, we'll end up sponsoring the reserve left back's away socks :)

As a suggestion, and because we know he's been aware of this - might it not be a good idea to try to get ourselves 100% behind Mr Macca?

I'll have £20 worth. You'll have to wait though as i'm in the process of sorting out some Fraudulent activity in my bank a/c and on my Credit card. :madman:

All,

great support so far and thanks for that. Please don't send any money just yet though. If we don't raise enough in pledges then we won't be able to go ahead with the sponsorship so best to wait until we've got a good sum pledged.

Do continue to pledge though - I'll put all the names on a spreadsheet and if we hit the £350 target inside two weeks then we'll get on the blower to the club.

Cheers,

James
