cast your mind back to Live8, and the appearance by Pink Floyd right at the end. They may be getting on a bit, but you have to admit it wasn't a bad performance.

Most people who claim not to like Floyd have only heard a couple of there more mainstream tracks. There is really something for almost everyone in their back catalogue.

Oh, and if all else fails, does this persuade you....?

Muse played Live8 at Paris due to being heavily under-rated in this country. They're huge in Europe, I believe. If we're comparing live performances, Muse win easily - they consistently win Best Live Act for any set of awards.

Also, Muse's Origin of Symmetry album has the best consecutive run of songs in any album.

You were obviously to young to see The "Wall" Live @Earls Court :p

Beats the Monty Python Tune ...:D

When i saw the draw i was very worried indeed, as i rate Muse as a top act, and that coupled with all the indie kids on here i thought i would be out.

That said, i've read the thread and am quite pleased with the comments that have been added, as it appears i may be in with a shout.. though i'm too scared to cast my vote and check at the moment :thump:

One from the early days, as well as something more up to date for your listening pleasure

It'd have been interesting if Muse drew Oasis in this round. No real chance against Pink Floyd though.

I wouldn't give up so soon ...

But having said that if you'd like to inform Cricko of your intention to withdraw from the competition then i'm sure he'll lock the thread now ;)

Ok, let's try some lyrics then.....

"Sheep"

Harmlessly passing your time in the grassland away
Only dimly aware of a certain unease in the air
You better watch out
There may be dogs about
I've looked over Jordan and I have seen
Things are not what they seem.

What do you get for pretending the danger's not real
Meek and obedient you follow the leader
Down well trodden corridors into the valley of steel
What a surprise!
A look of terminal shock in your eyes
Now things are really what they seem
No, this is no bad dream.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want
He makes me down to lie
Through pastures green he leadeth me the silent waters by
With bright knives he releaseth my soul
He maketh me to hang on hooks in high places
He converteth me to lamb cutlets
For lo,m he hath great power and great hunger
When cometh the day we lowly ones
Through quiet reflection and great dedication
Master the art of karate
Lo, we shall rise up
And then we'll make the bugger's eyes water.

Bleeding and babbling we fell on his neck with a scream
Wave upon wave of demented avengers
March cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream.

Have you heard the news?
The dogs are dead!
You better stay home
And do as you're told
Get out of the road if you want to grow old.

An Orwellian reference to the awakening and uprising of the proletariat during the Russian "october revolution", or just a cracking good tune? Who cares, it certainly sounds good!

Jesus H Christ on a ****ing unicycle, I only just managed to stop laughing long enough to vote. Muse vs Floyd is the musical equivalent of MK Dons vs Barcelona; another total no contest. I'm sure David Bellamy (or whatever his name is) would be the first to admit that without the immeasurable influence of Pink Floyd, there would be no Muse.
