Oi! Yellow card with that comment!
Plus Pulp (or Jarvis as a solo artist) never won the MMP!

Did they not? I thought Different Class did? And I love Jarvis BTW - met him twice...in a club in Shoreditch and in a cinema in Islington (along with Tjinder Singh from Cornershop).

Was it not the year it was favourite but lost out to some unknown album?
I've met him too, before he was DJing up here. I kind of forgot how to speak so ended up looking like a gibbering idiot!

A true legend though!

Have to agree - Pulp are/were great.

Hopefully, we have to still use present tense.
Rumours of them getting properly back together!
Anyway Jarvis' last album was Pulp by numbers anyway as Steve, Candida & even often used stand-in guitarist Richard Hawley were all musicians who played on it!

Size/Reprazent all the way for me.

How ****ing good a tune is Brown Paper Bag?

If Beethoven and Mozart had been alive and working in the 1990s, they'd be exploring drum 'n' bass. DnB was the absolute cutting edge of music when Size, Krust, Die etc came up with their masterpiece that is New Forms. So much of music has been done before and is just regurgitating old stuff in the same old way, with just a slight twist. DnB was something new, innovative, revolutionary that any musical genius would be attracted to. It offers a base to explore so many different musical areas and has expanded my musical tastes by getting me interested in areas as diverse as jazz, reggae and breakbeat.

New Forms was rightly critically acclaimed, as I've stated on here many times 'Brown Paper Bag' is just one of the best tunes ever, one I never grow tired of hearing. Other highlights include the atmospheric 'Heroes', 'Watching Windows' and the breakbeats of 'Share the Fall'.

The smooth production, the careening breakbeats, _that_ bass it just all adds up for this most wonderful exploration of music, rhythm and beats that make you want to lay back and feel the music.

ps I think DtS erred in going for Roni Size/Reprazent as they are simply too innovative and radical for many of the close-minded voters of Shrimperzone. Someone like their fellow Bristolians, Massive Attack or someone with the crossover appeal of Underworld (thanks largely to trainspotting) may have been a better bet if you were looking to win.

If it was legal to marry a man I would go for you for the above comments.
Couldnt have put it better myself. Made me want to cry.

I didnt really for one expect to win this one - I personally think Roni/Reprazent did more for music in one album than most achieve in a lifetime.

"Take my hand we will share the fall".

I've got Brown Paper Bag from a compilation I think...I'll give it a listen tonight as I celebrate your Leeds-like crash and burn at the first hurdle :D
