Switzerland v England

Or indeed Switland

Thought it worthwhile starting a new thread for this game (and perhaps every England game?).

Any one going? Think we'll start the same XI as Wednesday?

We've already got a thread debating the merits (or lack thereof) of our manager, so just focus on this upcoming game please.

was in Bern,2 years ago for the Italy-England game, was also at the Swiss-England game (81),got beat 2-1..think we are lucky that Hitzfeld not on charge, would have battered us..Expect another very poor England effort, wonder if we will get a shot on target, let alone win!!But fingers crossed

Looking forward to this.....hope he plays sterling as the no.10 and we can get off to a good start. Lots of doom and gloom around but I see some very promising players.
Quick question though....if we lose....roy to go?

He'd be under a lot of pressure, but I doubt he'd get sacked and he certainly won't jump. England will still qualify regardless of Monday's result, so even if we do lose - we may well, but I don't think we will get 'spanked' - Hodgson would (and should) be given the opportunity to take the team as far as possible in France 2016.

Hang on, are we away at the 9th ranked team in the world tomorrow, by far our toughest match in qualifying, or at home to Andorra?

I agree....heres an opinion I have had for a while too....rooney is our best number 9 not this 10 rubbish....his goal scoring record speaks for itself get him in the box ffs

The injury to Sturridge is maybe a slight blessing because Sturridge and Rooney just don't seem to work well together.

Rooney isn't going to be dropped and so either playing Rooney up front on his own with Sterling behind, or Welbeck up front with Rooney, I think we've got a more cohesive attack.

Henderson being potentially out is a massive blow, we're already very light in CM. Would definitely take a draw...

Indeed.....im not calling for Roy to go but the press seem primed for a hodgson slaughter and they have a lot of influence with fans etc.

Many think Roy will put Rooney on the left !

Rooney IMO must play in the hole so he can dictate the play and get onto any loose balls in the box !

I think Roy will play 451 and try to grab a draw.

The real question is who plays in the middle with Wilshere if Henderson is out?

Colback? The Ox? Delph? Milner? Bring Jones into the middle?!

Colback pulled out the squad through injury. I'd have Ox, he played well for Arsenal in a central midfield position last year, the away leg at Bayern I can remember he played very well.

I think that's what I'd go for as well because I think Wilshere is better playing a little deeper and able to keep the tempo high rather than playing further up and running head first into players midriffs and generally being a bit *****. The worry is how much space that would afford Shaqiri.

Didn't realise Colback was out as well! Delph is probably a bit too green for this kind of game.

Delph probably has the most experience of playing in that position though.

The lack of options is alarming, particularly with Leonard seemingly out of form.

True but he's got no European experience (which for this type of game is useful) and very limited international experience. I think Wilshere and Ox would be picked for their experience (together) and in these types of matches.

Well done Welbeck and England, that was a pretty decent performance against tough and dangerous opposition. We had to work to get into the game but were good in the second half.

Welbeck through the middle worked well, Sterling was a little off but Rooney and Delph supported well. John Stones looks pretty composed, however I really worry for the future of Wilshere, another very poor day at the office for him.
