After a very hard fought competition, the scores on the doors tonight were:

(bearing in mind we were suddenly scoring as well as asking!)

joint 6th - Southminster and Tinkerbell
5th - Ricey
4th - Rusty and Desert Shrimper (playing together, ahhhh!)
3rd - Bluesmanager - he's a Barbie girl!
2nd - Effy
and in top spot
Mr Mk Shrimper!

That was muchos hard workos, graciases to the Steak lad and to those that stayed and played!

Apologies for not having mentioned before, but well done to the younger Sarfies for joining in, they certainly got some of the earlier questions right!

Well done Kay and Son.
Thought it was bad manners for someone to leave mid-way through the evening to go and do his housework with an electrical appliance.

Oh and has my request for an independant adjudicator been granted?

Sorry I seemed to bail out early, my connection vanished for the night as can happen out here. Had I stayed I feel the Rusty/Desert dream ticket would have seen off all-comers.

Apologies people my t-mobile link went awol..I tried for ages to re-connect but all it said was " cannot detect dial tone".....

Well done Kay for carrying on..

You were doing ok, trouble was MK, Effy and Bluesmanager were all on a roll! I think people surprised themselves how many of them they did actually know!

Never again, John, never again! Glad you're ok though, we were all a little worried! Incidentally, do you know who kkk was?

It is amazing what you can learn from;

a) Marvel comic books.
b) Commodore 64 / Amiga games.
c) Fantasy fiction.

When you lot were out chasing girls I was learning about Osiris and Thor..... HAHA! Look how the tables have turned now I win prizeless internet quizzes!

That's partly why I was surprised you didn't get the Valkyrie one quicker Paul, with the Northern Lights association. To be honest, most of them were things that are covered in schools, and you only needed the first "bonus" to work out which were the likely "legend" questions to follow!

Hmm, I guess Serafina Pekkala (one of the His Dark Materials witches) is related to the Northertn Lights. I always thought that they were to do with taking the fallen to Valhalla. At least that's what I spent some of my valuable childhood doing....

From Wiki Paul

"According to Thomas Bulfinch's highly influential work Bulfinch's Mythology (1855), the armour of the valkyries "sheds a strange flickering light, which flashes up over the northern skies, making what men call the 'Aurora Borealis', or 'Northern Lights'."

Valkyries had two roles, one was indeed with Odin at Valhalla, but the other was overseeing battles and choosing who would fall. Half of these fallen went with Freya, the others to Odin.

My apologies again Kay. I think I was having similar problems to John, I kept getting a timed out message, same think happened on Saturday night.

Not really on my part. If it's mystiucal, supernatural or mythological in nature, I make it my job to know about it. Used to have a book of Greek and Norse Legends and Myths when I was small, I'll have to dig it out (didn't last night, could be classified as cheating).

That one point I made such a fuss over - didn't mean a lot in the end did it?
