SUFC: The Future SUFC up for sale

So it is now down to ron .If he has a shread of decency he will take the offer on the table .Its the right thing to do now for the sake of the club .He must know that if he welches on this deal .Them he would destroy the club he says he loves .Please Ron take the offer and go NOW .
It’s not just him, it’s his family’s too, as some of fans know where he live. If Ron folded the club after he reject an offers, there be an uproar from thousands of SUFC fans. His families don’t need the griefs from us.

If he sells then yes, they will have played it perfectly.

If he now feels like a cornered rat, anything could happen.

“Beware of driving men to desperation. Even a cornered rat is dangerous.” - Churchill
Pretty much summarised my thoughts there. I really hope for once he sees the right thing to do.

Something tells me he'll at least sit on the offer to enjoy one last shred of control.

Indeed. He needs to factor in that we have another court case coming up if he doesn't sell, he risks flushing away the very goods up for sale! Also, as part of the compensation package, he needs to consider the savings in train fares!
Would he lose the land though, the club yes but the land roots hall is on and Fossets farm that isn’t owned but the club as I understand, he isnt selling the club with those assets attached so if he is only interested din the money from the building on the land then maybe the risk, sadly, isnt that big for him. If the club were to not exist I do not know what the covenant on roots hall then means as there would be no club bit even so he would still have Fossets farm.

Best solution all round is for him to sell, no minority share holding, get him out and gone and hopefully the new buyers have enough to buy the new stadium as well as the club

The club shop they opened in town, the deliberate targeting of advertising to households in the area, the fact their reserve team played at Roots Hall.

And all that without mentioning the hordes of arrogant plastic cockneys in our town who jump on a train to East London every other week in their horrible claret and blue who belittle and take the p*** out of the club of the town they live in.

Very little history between us on the pitch but I still hate W**t H*m with an absolute passion.
Getting offended by people going to actually watch their team is a bit heavy. Lots of people in Essex have roots in East London and its a lot better than an arm chair fan, who supports Liverpool and the like for no reason except glory.

I don't have any problems with their fans at all, most of them speak highly of Southend and respect us lot who like them have had FA to shout about for many years now.

So let’s say Ron accepts the offer tomorrow what steps will still need to be taken before the takeover is complete? Do they have to do the pointless fit and proper owners FA test etc?

Does anyone know the answer to this? I'd like to know as well to be honest

FA Test Question: Are the new proposed owners of Southend United fit and proper to take over and run the club?

Answer: Yes, they are miles better than the terrible current owner Ron Martin who has mismanaged the club over many many years and taken the proud club to the brink of extinction.

Result: PASS

i think you miss-spelled current - should be c * nt

FA Test Question: Are the new proposed owners of Southend United fit and proper to take over and run the club.

Answer: They are miles better than the terrible current owner Ron Martin who has only the occasional had dark thoughts about a local sports reporter. Like Ron the new purchasers have not had an international news reporter murdered and disected, in that way they pass the test easily and will treat the FA Board to freebies and goodies as required by the brown paper bag regulations.

Result: PASS
Amended to reflect the threshold test.

The test is a good thing, with this being a consortium, do they have to do the test for the group as a whole or for each individual in the consortium. If as a whole great as will be quicker if they proceed, if per individual could take a little longer i guess.

If they do do as a group what happens if there is a shady character in there and then he assumes full control and turns out to be as bad or worse than RM, worst case scenario I know, just want it done asap as dont trust anything that comes out of R or the club to a degree

Unfortunately only 2 people know what the offer on the table is the consortium and Ron.Regretably if the offer is derisery and Ron will reject that's business.Hopefully its acceptable to Ron and we can all move on and look forward to the future with optimism
Must b at least 3 ,seller ,buyer ,agent (probably more than 1 agent )

A lot of assumptions being made about the offer, for all we know they could have offered half what it is up for sale for, it could be what the asking price was or anywhere in between.

Precisely this support your local team where you were born/brought up, especially if in lower leagues, very good,
Support the team you parents grew up supporting because it was the local team before they moved to the area equally good.
Many over the years have migrated east out of London.
Very easy to paint people with generalisations.
