There is a big difference to playing football and understanding football. Even a lot of professional footballers lack the necessary grey between their ears to fully understand every aspect of the game.

Agree with this. There is also an extremely big difference in playing football amateur standard to pro. It's hard to even compare the two levels.

Okay just for you,

If the team were playing fairly well and picking up the odd win here and there then if Phil wants to become a media star that is his choice however the team are in free fall and how many times this week has he been on the radio or TV?,He should be looking at talent from non league IMO as this club is supposedly cash strapped.

Well if he is turning up for training and do everything he should be with the lads then it's his own time and he can do what he wants. We have Bob Shaw who is head of recruitment and also Dave Penney who will also help out with scouting and no doubt Coughlan too. If PB is doing all this himself then what is the point of having the other 3?

As for the non league, problem is the bigger clubs are now looking to dip in too. When there are so many gems in there as soon as someone is playing well a champ or league one club will be looking at them also. Do you have evidence to say that PB hasn't looked into non league players?

All I know is that I spent about 10 hours on a coach yesterday to be bloody disappointed with the football on show.

If certain areas of my life were not going so well I know I would cut back on things like my media interviews to the Echo and concentrate on the footballing side.
Perhaps Mr Brown should consider the same.

I give as good as I get however sorry for any inconvenience to you and SBH.

Not to worry mrsblue. I was not trying to have a pop at you. Believe me there have been occasions when I have been a little raspy myself on here . I was merely trying to say the threads flow better when we get along like nice little boys and girls.

Agreed,

If things were going ok nobody will say nothing yet things are bloody terrible and Phil continues to pop up on TV and radio.

I know I go over the top at times can't help myself as I know football is a bloke sport in general and I get ****ed off when i m down the pub and I am treated like some silly girl when football is the conversation,However I have been known in my time to be able to do more keep ups than some blokes and hell they do not like it.

I know football is full of stereotypes but I believe the majority of good fans recognise the parity women have in the sport. Without wishing to sound condescending, perhaps you should consider they have dismissed what you have said because they fundamentally disagree with your point of view and not because you are a woman. I can assure you I never take your sex into consideration on this forum and also accept a number of your points are well made.

I don't think his media work makes much difference. Worrying for the companies paying him that he seems to be outwitted by league 2 managers every week though.

As for team, why not a midfield 4 of timlin, laird, Leonard and hurst. Corr and give Fred another go up front. That's pretty similar to the line up which won the first 3 games this season before laird got injured? It's 4 4 2 and has been shown to work.

I agree with your logic but I would be absolutely amazed if he started Laird and Fred. For whatever reason those two are not going to be in the named 11.

I know what I would like to see. A mid-field of Payne, Atkinson, Laird and Timlin , with Corr and Leonard up front, with Lenny playing in a forward supporting role for Corr. Got an eye for a goal and sharp enough to latch onto Corr's flicks. Could just work!!

To be honest I think any formation we played with could not have done any worse. Maybe we also need a contenious sending off as well to galvanize the team

Another defeat yet for whatever reason Phil will not change it and it's now become ridiculous .

2 months ago we looked capable of securing an auto spot but that has long since gone and now we are in grave danger of being mid table as the pack hunt us down.

Game after game slips by whilst Phil sticks to his same old same old and it don't bloody work as other clubs now out fox us illustrated by the defeat at out of sorts Morecambe.

I have been banging on for several weeks now regarding the lack of mobility up front and sadly this has come home to haunt us is spectacular style as this team cannot score more than one goal whilst failing to keep the opposition out.

Imagine if we had a player who had banged in 15 up top we would possibly be in with a shout of the title,Hurst had done his bit yet sadly the men who are paid to score have failed again and again.

Give Williams a start Phil and cut down on your TV stuff.

It's not the "TV stuff" that has affected our form...as previously mentioned, Brown was on TV towards the start of the season when we were up near the top.

So, how has it affected our form? ...........it hasn't.

We are a cash strapped league 2 team who happen to have a high profile manager who appears on radio or the telly far too much. After Saturdays debacle Phil could have ordered his troops in for Sunday training with him in attendance yet this was impossible as Phil was on the telly and talk sport on Sunday.

He has coaches who can handle training and players dont train the day after the match. Werent we complaining they were too tired, cant we let them have a day off ?
