Strikers - who is the worst ever.....

IANichols

Youth Team
to pull on a Blues Shirt

There have been some shockers in my time but who would you say had two left feet and the touch of a rapist in the penalty area

In the 80's it has to be Billy Kellock and Trevor Whymark#
In the 90's Kevin O'Callaghan and Andy Sussex spring to mind

Anyone else have any muppets they wish to put forward, sorry just a bit bored

Bit harsh on Andy Sussex, Billy Kellock was hopeless, but not a striker. Trevor Whymark - no argument there!

But for my money Richard Young takes the vote. He was the promised new Messiah and he was woeful. He made Tes Bramble look like Tierry Henry! Some of the people who whinge about Drewe now have short memories - we have had far worse than him previously!

Barrington Belgrave

Pepe (Sada N'Daiye)

Neville Roach

Trevor Fitzpatrick

andy sussex - where has that come from? bit harsh when we have had donkeys like tony richards playing in the hallowed shirt!!!

Have to agree with that. I remember seeing him miss an open goal from about a foot out.

He was in the middle of the goal, the 'keeper was nowhere to be seen, the cross was shin height and he was only a foot out, and he put it wide. It's not as if he missed the ball, he actually managed to put it wide.

I still think it is the most incredible miss I have ever seen.

How the "awesome" talents of Messrs. Neil Campbell and Danny Webb have been overlooked in this thread is beyond me.

Steve Jones also gets a special mention for being the most overweight, couldn't-give-a-toss striker we've ever had here on loan...

Ooh, that reminds me... that Dominic Foley from Watford, he was proper rubbish he was...

Matt

Neville Roach {cousin of CS Cockroach}.
Neil Campbell.
Dave Regis
Petre Belsvik
Francisco Cagiagao
Drew Broughton
Pepe

To name but a few.

Cack. Pure Cack!

How the hell he got MOM against Rushden last season, after missing just the four one-on-ones, still beggers belief.

Bejaysus, I'd forgotten about Foley. How did that bloke ever play international football?

Because they are truly world class in comparison to the one and only Richard Young.

The Dublin/ Willis 'performances' at the back end of 95/96 still haunt me to this day.

Andy Sussex?! My god, what are things coming to. He played for us 2 divisions higher than we are now and never looked even slightly out of place. That easily puts him in the top few percent of Southend players I've seen over the years.

Donkeys? Richard Young, Chris Ramsey, Dominic Iorfa, Steve Hatter, Sada N'Diaye, Neville Roach, Bob Worthington, Warren May, Peter Abbott and dare I go back as far as Tony Beanland?

If you chuck in players who were sussed so quickly that they hardly played then there's a few more - Paul Denny, the bloke who played up front with Collymore on his debut (can't even remember his name), some plonker called Owers and a goalkeeper called Ray White who conceded NINE goals at Brighton and at least seven of them were entirely his fault. Quite a few others I expect but it's hard to remember them all.

Oh yes, and Neil Campbell.

Andy Sussex was a decent player - was more of an attacking midfielder than a striker as I recall.
Harsh too on Cagigao, he only played one first team game so he can only have had 1 bad game! - I remember seeing him play at Barnet for the stiffs and he wasnt all that bad.

I go for Neil Campbell myself.
