Not only is Mr Evans the fattest manager in the league hes evidently also the thickest. Saying those things about Accrington is only going to fire them up for the return fixture. Im sure the majority of Crawley fans and players are decent people but he is making them very unlikeable.
Not only that but its extreme hypocrisy from him. Was he not in charge of Boston who used to put sand on their pitch to stop other teams playing decent football? Complete knob jockey.

No, you're mixing him up with John Beck the Cambridge United manager who'd put sand in the corners of the pitch, not to stop the opponents from playing, but to hold the long balls punted downfield in play. One League match was delayed when the referee demanded it be swept away.

Mick, Boston definitely sanded their pitch against us as I was gently escorted away from the ground at the end of the match by a policeman who was concerned that I might do damage in my very annoyed state.

Is this thread still going lol?
I thought we'd established that evans is a complete ******! Perhaps this is one of those moments when the entire zone is in full agreement (even wiggy!)

You're double counting. There were just three clubs (and combinations thereof) and Dagenham. The others had all merged/disappeared or whatever before Redbridge Forest merged with Dagenham in the early 90s. Someone seems to have a bit of a vendetta against Dagenham !

You're right that others had merged or disappeared "or whatever" before Redbridge Forest merged with Dagenham. That may have something to do with the ogre that became Redbridge Forest had already swallowed up the likes of Leytonstone/Ilford/Walthamstow previously. The monopoly rumbled on and the only reason Dagenham kept their name in any form was because their ground was more useful to the "club" than the old ground at Walthamstow, or the Green Pond site was worth more than Viccy Road (whichever you choose to believe). Real shame as both Walthamstow and Leytonstone were both cracking places to watch football.

The thing about Crawley.... from the other internet forum I inhabit, most of their fans seem to believe their own hype, seem to think they've a god given right to win this league and generally **** everyone off. They are generally disliked by all who post in the League 2 section, but also by those who they left behind in the Conference.

I am surprised that Evans is actually allowed to manage anymore, after all, he is a convicted crook and his crimes were football related. He wouldn't be allowed to be a chairman.

As for the fattest manager, surely you forgot Barry Fry!!

Whilst all the teams concerned had history, none more than the Avenue, they were all suffering financially as mon league attendances fell after the war and there are several easy to reach bigber clubs very close by. Woodford town , Enfield and Leyton were other clubs in that vicinity who suffered too

I for i intend to keep it going, though in actual fact the one person who'll do most to fuel it is Evans himself by continuing to spout his bile

Words fail me. Surely the same seems to be going on at Crawly otherwise how can they possibly have afforded some of the players they HAVE got?

I'll have to introduce you to my friend Simon who is a Wrexham supporter.......feels similarly!

I would still love to know how it is that Crawley are allowed pay the crazy transfer fees and wages that they do when there is supposed to be a salary cap in League two based on the clubs average attendance? As their average attendance is less than 3000 they are clearly breaking League rules. In the conference they were deducted 10 points three times for breaking the salary cap. Clearly there are ways around the salary cap as Notts County proved 2 years ago by bringing in the players way too good for League 2 paying them money they didnt have.

Iirc someone posted on here that the league sanctioned an escrow account Crawley had set up just to pay wages
Which I believe takes the wages out of the turnover calculation

Good to see the Crawley fans living up to the reputation as one of their fans decided to take a pee behind the team bus at the services

that was me- they have wages for this year and the next TWO years . The amount includes potential pay rises to cover TWO promotions !!! ps- this is not arrogance, but sound financial planning as they have the funds
