Stan Collymore

Condolences to you Sir Stanley and your family and to all those that knew your mother, may she rest in peace beside God, as one that has lost both parents plus a sister , i wish you good health in these darkest hours, God bless you Sir Stanley and thankyou for all you have done for my club .

@stan collymore , sending you and your family my deepest condolences. Having lost my dad only 3 months ago I can only say take time to remember your mum, remember the good times, laugh and cry when you need to and speak to people, it’s a tough time mate. Wish you all the best, take care pal

i think it would be a beautiful tribute to Stan ( i dont know his shirt number when he was with us ) if at that time in our next home game ,when the minute of his shirt number in the match arrived if all supporters were to pay a minutes silence as a mark of respect for all that SVC has done for our club .

Sorry to be hearing this and sending our sincere condolences to you and the family
You never get over losing a much loved family member - you just learn to live each day without them and remember they have only gone on a journey before you xx

I'd like to add my own condolences to Sir Stanley for his recent loss. I don't know him, of course, though I'd love to shake his hand and thank him for the joy and excitement he brought when the team were struggling under Colin Murphy. We all enjoyed his exploits at Forest, Liverpool and other teams.
I saw his debut against Notts County in the driving rain all those years ago. He was dynamic, big, strong and skilful , playing with verve and drive and he thrilled us all. My cynical late Dad unusually wasn't at that particular game and stated he would be a flash in the pan and be "As hopeless as the rest of 'em after a couple of games"; how wrong he was. We had the young novices Brown and Ashenden alongside SVR on the day; Stan could have had three or four goals!
FWIW, I believe he had more natural ability than Alan Shearer had, though that is meant as no criticism for the Geordie national hero

Then in the club's darkest moments he stepped up, becoming "Stan the man with a Shrimpers plan" and we are forever in his debt for the vital work he did. Even then there were sceptics but I believed he only ever had the club's best interests at heart and played a key role in bringing in the new regime which continues to serve SUFC well...We'd walk this league, and I venture the two divisions currently above us if he was up front now!
Thank you Mr Collymore and may your Mum rest in peace.
She loved you as her boy and we love you as one of ours.
