Stan Collymore

Stan stuck his head above the parapet and took the pelters from some fans, unwarranted I must add.

He was a legend before and he's an even bigger legend in my eyes now, I didn't see many ex players clamouring to help or try and instigate change and thankfully Stan used his outspoken nature, contacts and presence to help rattle Ron enough to start a chain reaction which ended with us finally being rid of Ron. I'd love the fans/ club to recognise him in some way going forward, whether that be part of a revamped Roots Hall named in his honour or something of that ilk.

Thank you Stan

This!

It needed someone of Stan's passion for the club, his understanding of the club's former glory days as a solid member of the 92. It needed someone removed enough from the regime to not be affected by some sort of backlash (and many former players still have new careers to be affected). Stan has a a high enough profile and almost nothing to lose with his post-football career, so he was in the position to stand up and be counted.

SVC - thank you for setting the wheels in motion to get our club back!

Stan is the one who really started the process in my eyes. After that Chesterfield 0-4 game, he went on BBC Essex to speak and was shouting from the rooftops everywhere about our situation. He brought attention to all the issues. Of course the protests brought attention and these fans were heroes as well, but Stan was on a mission to help the club after that game.
