Spoke to Tilly today...

Quote[/b] (Whatever @ Aug. 08 2005,00:01)]We do have a very good first team squad, granted. Now Spinner's out though, our defence looks decidedly thin on the ground.... Hunt's a capable enough replacement but I don't think he's suited to centre half.
I think Hunt's a pretty decent centre back, he played there when Wignall first bought him in. Plus he offers a bit more pace then Edwards or Spinner.

When Hunt first joined he played centre back and formed an excellent partnership with Cort so I have no qualms about him filling in. Id have him over Eagle for sure.

very interesting about Jozic - what did he do to make Tilly change his mind so quickly? As for pace - well Spinner's hardly quick anymore plus he's out for 4 weeks, leaving Barrett, Hunt & Eagle ( who wasn't even on the bench ).
and is Tilly saying Jozic looked good cos Millwall were so poor? IMO there is something more to this

and Kev - who we gonna support now?

The only problem with Hunt is that maybe he is a bit on the short side for CB, but then again i maybe wrong.

I personally think that Jozic would be a great acquisition, Thought he looked really good during PreS. Dont understand why Tilly thought he had a bad game @ G.W, thought he was good.

Which is why Steve Tilson is a League One Manager and you are just a fan!

Why does there have to be more to it? Tilly & Brush haven't let us down and we all know Tilly has southend's interests at heart so why does there have to be a big conspriacy theory?

With Edwards & Spinner lacking pace to buy another slow defender wouldn't be smart. So Bye Bye Jozic....

Stockport.

Tilson might be keeping his cards close to his chest on Jozic maybe? I personally thought he was pretty good, but if Tilson has let him go, then fair enough.

Get well soon Spinner!

If you were in the Spread then you probably would have saw me, I'm the one who fainted and fell over.
Was this at the point where Napster got his wallet out and bought a drink ?

That wasn't my 5,000th post. I've posted since then.

Tilly is an absolute legend. I remember him and Brush walking through Cardiff towards the Millenium Stadium at about 12/1ish on Play off final day in their tracksuits looking very calm and from that moment on I realised we'd win that game. The whole pub crowded around the window and gave them a standing ovation and they returned the favour.

I've never spoken to Tilly but he always strikes me as a genuine, honest bloke and above all is a fan of the Club, which is very rare. Only other person I can think of that manages the Club he supports is Neil Warnock of Sheffield United.

As for Jozic, I'm disappointed that we wont be signing him and am surprised Tilly doesn't think his League One standard when he has played UEFA Cup football and represented Serbia at the Olympics but I trust his judgement and am fully behind his decision.

Hunt we do okay at centre half, as already stated he formed a decent partnership with Cort under Wignall. He offers us more pace than Barrett, Spinner and Eagle. Just hope we can bring in another couple of players before the deadline.

Get well soon Spinner.

Is it possible for two people to give a standing ovation ? If they were already walking anyway wouldn't it have been more effective for them to sit down ?

I'll get my Goat.
