Official Match Thread Southend Vs Hereford

Bristol was awful but this was a poor Southend side

Just found them from the

Hereford forum.

Didnt sound like we were poor at all.

No offence, but that's Southend are a decent side. Just look at their forwards, Dougie Freedman and ex-Spurs Lee Barnard with Alex Revell on the bench. Pace thoughout the side too.

Well done boys hopefully we can get a couple of wins and were back in the mix a top half finsh.

We werent that good to be honest against what was an awful Hereford side.

They never troubled us really but we should have done a lot better than we did.

Created a lot of chances in first 15 minutes then went off the boil until we scored. Barnard then missed a sitter which would have taken it to 2-0.

We will need to play a lot better than that against the better sides but the important thing to take from it was 3 points and a clean sheet.

it is going to be a long hard season. 3 pts is nice but to make hard work of beating the worst league team seen at RH since D&R is a big concern. Our best player a loaner closely followed by Harding

Tilly says the physio has had a quick look at Mildy's ankle and reckons he may have broken it...going up for an X-Ray.

If he has broken his ankle or whatever injury he has, Mildy must have been in a lot of pain and I applaud Mildy for staying on and playing thru the pain to help get 3 points for the lads!!

6,100 and something.

Very disappointing, hope its not an indication of anything lasting.

If we get into the top 10 crowds will increase, if we hovver in the bottom half then as winter approaches and the 'credit crunch' kicks in then apart from the 'big' games i cannot foresee an improvement.

If that is true.....what a hero, but on the other hand, what extra damage has he done and wilst it was a superb effort to carry on, i can not help thinking that it will come back to bite us especially with our No2 keeper out injured aswell.

Milldenhall staying on was an act of stupidity. Yes he is a Goal keeper and we didnt have one on the bench but what use was Mildenhall when he could hardly walk. Any shot to either side of him and he would not have been able to have the spring in his foot to push off and dive for it. Bringing on an outfield player to go in goal was the more sensible thing to do.

Some people..no matter what Mildy does, he is castigated!!

I suppose Flavs would have been hailed a hero etc etc!!!

Have you not read my post properly or are you in love with Mildenhall. I'm not doubting his commitment and bravery but the FACT IS, he could hardly move around or kick a ball. His foot or ankle is ****ed. It's more so Tillys fault for not following the doctor Singhs orders, after told the bench to sub him off even after Mildenhall had got to his feet.

What was Clarke doing giving away a needless foul in the last few seconds? Hereford really should have scored with Mildenhall hobbling, the defence goes missing yet again and bloke shoots straight into Mildenhall's chest as the ref blows for time.

Clarke gives away a needless penalty last week, a stupid foul that should have cost us 2 points today, the penalty for the first goal in the play-offs. He is quickly becoming a liability.
