Official Match Thread Southend v Luton

Really really really happy for James. I hope he's played well since he's come on (assuming he didn't start) as he could do with the crowd likening to him and a confidence boost.

Get in!

He didn't start. It was Revs and Laurent up front, so that makes it even more encouraging for Walker :)

The question now is, do we want a 'big team' in round three, or do we settle for a minnow team to be able to(hopefully) progress further? What do you all think?

Eastwood Town beating Wycombe and Forest Green doing the same to Rochdale, looks like they're the only shocks.

How about West Ham at Roots Hall? Would Stanislas be allowed to play?

Big team. We're never gonna win the cup anyway and i'd much rather be knocked out by Liverpool away than Eastwood Town at home.

Big team please, away hopefully. I'd just think we'd lose if we got a smaller team.

I'd think not, they'd have to give him permission, which would be madness. Otherwise I'd love West Ham, but this Stanislas lad seems useful.

you never know, we may have signed him permanent by then!!

Eastwood Town away please... They have a great little ground in a public park. Non-league teams all the way to Wembley !

FEMI ORENUJA!!!!

JUNIOR STANISLAS :D

Amazing player Junior, should definately try to get him on a permanent transfer. Amazing free-kick, better than Freddie's against Man United, better than Robbie Carlos's against France dare i say it. Great result. I'll be keeping an eye on Femi, anyone got any info about him?

To be fair, the new Stan the Man was probably given too much space because he was a completely unknown entity to them. Yes, he played well and the free kick was beautifully taken, the second though was more a case of right place and a good assist from Betsy. Third goal was sublime, a fantastic through ball from Macca to Betsy and pinpoint perfectly placed for Walker to slot home. Bad news for me - Christophe went off limping and we thought Mildy was also limping a bit after slipping over when taking a goal kick in the first half. Looking forward to seeing whether Luton's goal did actually cross the line, our feeling was that it was hooked off.

Luton had to be one of the worst teams i have seen at the hall in my living memory they were awful the officials werent much better either

Was out so I missed the BW commentray

But was a good win and nice to see the new boy get a couple.

Did he play well?

How did the team play as whole?

He played brilliantly. Had a sort of JCR feel about him except he involved himself in the team play more and helped set-up opportunities for the strikers. His goal was brilliant, a swinging free-kick curling into the top right hand corner from 30 yards. The team played well in the first half but seemed to slow down the pace until Luton equalised which sparked them into life again. Missed quite a lot of chances though.

10 shots on target according to the match stats - was great to see! AND some from distance too.
