Official Match Thread Southend United vs Rochdale

Periods of good, periods of poor. I'd bring on a 3rd attacker at HT and take the game to them. But I'm not a football manager and maybe using the same tactics that havent worked yet this season is the way to turn this game around :Hilarious:

So probably 2 subs after 60 mins, 1 in 70s, 2 in 80s sticking with 2 up top for the full 90

Very happy to be made to look like a fool when we win this 2-1 without changing a thing

Convincing win Tuesday night so I know what il do il change formation. Only got himself to blame. Stays like this and he will act so defensive in his post match interview and claim we’ve created loads of chances

What worries me, and I'm sure others, we have a clear out in the summer, but Maher plays same way and we are in same position 12 months down the line. 343 has worked well.

I wouldn't have changed the starting 11 myself, but contrary to any of the opinions here, the fact that we're losing has absolutely nothing, and I mean nothing, to do with the fact that Coker started in place of Walker.

We are massively on top in my opinion, but final ball/touch is lacking.

I'd give it 10 mins of the second half, and if we're struggling to break through, try 343. I'm concerned, though, that Rochdale have 3 in the middle and I'm concerned we'll get overrun in there.

I would only make one change at this point in time, thats Maher for the Rochdale manager,,after 60 minutes i would bring both Walker on and Prillion for Husin and Kendall , then later Bonne for hopper

Coker seems half asleep and their 8 is running the game for them …we don’t have the same intensity as Tuesday I’m afraid …that said there is definitely mistakes in their back line so hope yet !!

I have to admit, I don’t really get the logic in the selection today. Two home games in a week, against 7th and 8th in the league. We play 3-4-3 against 7th and win 3-1, so then go 3-5-2 against 8th? Surely you keep the same team, and at the very least the same shape?

I’m sure Kev will come out and tell us how they play a certain way and we dropped an extra man into midfield to ‘match them up’ etc., which may well be true. But we’ve also looked consistently poor in a 3-5-2 so it just feels counter productive.

We’ve been okay(ish) in fairness. But I can’t help but feel we’ll actually stand a chance of getting something out of this game if we switch it up second half and get Walker/Bonne on.
