Baffling

Ralph is a left footed LCB. Golding and Goodliffe are both right footed. In a back three the LCB and RCB need to be comfortable covering full back channels. A right footed CB covering the LB channel brings back the nightmare of watching Elvis playing LB at Portsmouth- real hide behind the sofa stuff.

This is a balanced back three and makes a lot of sense
