I have to take my hat off to “Steve”. After several months on here I am still none the wiser as to whether he’s a genuine fruit cake or whether he has managed to string the entire cast of SZ along leading us all on a merry dance while he sits at home laughing his socks off at us all getting in a twist over his ludicrous outrageous posts and believing he’s serious ??
That’s exactly what he is doing ,ignore ,what happens !????

Because its different!! How do we know mellis cant play there? He tried richard taylor and hes a centre back! Basically I'm telling mm to try somthing different because nothing else seems to be working! The only strikers we have are acquah who is useless and goodship who never gets a start!! Akinola is a number 9. so we need to try and get a goal some how

So would a front two of Holly Willoughby and Sooty be different , but completely pointless too !

Hi guys and thank you for granting me (temporary) membership to your forum. I am not here to give it the big un, (as a Walsall fan that would be impossible anyway) so i will leave all that nonsense to the Bradford and Bolton fans.
So, onto the game.
It is going to be awful with 2 poor teams desperate not to make a mistake as that would prove so very costly. An earlier poster said that most teams come to Southend expecting a win but that is the belief of any teams and fans that we play just lately, we are awful and are the worst Walsall FC side since i started supporting them in 1968.
I don't for a moment think we will go out of the league but losing to you will make it that more difficult for us.
Good luck for the rest of the season, starting on Wednesday morning i hope !

Hi Beechdale,
If you think you're teams bad, Just have a look at us on I follow tonight !
Jason Demetriou used to play for you at right back i believe?
He's been playing for us in midfield, but he may well be back to right back tonight because one of our players in that position is on International duty (can't believe I typed that)

Let's hope you haven't gone a fast right winger.

Good luck for the rest of the season, starting Wednesday of course.

I have to say Shrimpet.S..you have brightened my world a small piece with the ways in which you manage to cause discussions on here with your unusual ideas and thoughts. I do find you entertaining if not slightly a bit of pickle short of a ploughmans in a good way.

Anyway for tonight go:
Ox
Demi White Hobson Clifford (if fit)
Taylor Ferguson Dieng
Egbri/Ang (Egbri if fit) Akinola Goodship

Would like to see Goodship given a run. However I think it is quite telling the manager he scored most of his goals under doesn't fancy him in the football league.

The time is now upon us where the points gap and games left has become something that will take a real good run to overturn. A few weeks back if we had nicked a win it wouldn't look quite so drastic. That being said I would like to see.

Ox
Demi white hobbo Clifford (if fit) Hart if not
Taylor
ANG Olay Reeco
Acquah Akinola

You look at all these variations of formation and personell. Desperately hoping something will click. Yet you know that the tactics and outcome will more then likely be the same :(

Olayinka is the variable. Could well be the saviour.

The poor quality of both sides would initially get you thinking that this game has 0-0 written all over it. However, in our present situation, whilst you'd be quite happy with a point, I think fear of not winning trumps fear of losing as far as we are concerned. For us it is virtually win or die match and I expect a result.................one way or the other.

Been thinking about this. Its not easy because we have so many players but not the types of players I would necessary want to choose from.

By way of showing how difficult it is I am really struck by how many on here say they want a more attack minded team- and then pick one with no forwards, CM and wingers playing in attack and defenders in midfield. The resulting side has virtually no EFL goals to its name, or in it, yet at the same time meets that more attacking tag somehow. Nothing reflects the lack of real choice more and tbh I find myself often in the same trap.

A 2-1 win! For us, an own goal followed by an additional time winner by Oxley, headed in from a corner. You heard it first here. Or is it, you heard it here first???

First time i have said this this season. This is a must win game.
Win and we are back in the fight. Lose and we are as good as down.
A draw will probably not help.

So i would change the side. Give us more options Clifford for the dead balls, another opition.
Risk. Olay, and more attacking Acquah and Akinola to start

Oxley
Demi. Hobson. White. Clifford.
Dieng
K Taylor. Ferguson. Olay.
Acquah. Akinola.

Subs. Seadon. Hart. Cordner. Mac Cormack. Mellis. Holmes. Goodship

We simply have to win tonight to any slim chance of staying up alive. Am I confident? Not overly. I’m more than happy to be proven wrong though.
