As I said in the preview, MM has got to change something to get us scoring. Trying the same old things every week is just not working. I'm going to go for:

Oxley

Demi White Hobson Clifford (or Hart)

McCormack K Taylor

Egbri Olayinka Akinola

Acquah
Subs, whoever's left but include some big blokes plus Halford for his long throw!

He has to play Goodship, im notnhis biggest fan but he is a striker, he has scored, he is mobile and can hit a shot. Dieng does not have a strikers movement although he is much better in the air and physical than Acquah. Two up top, Akinola and Reeco on the wings and for the love of god just one DM - Ferguson and then two attack minded mids like Olay and Mellis/Taylor. Not the MM dream that is Demi, Macca and Halford ?

Think you might have one too many there ?

Be interesting to see how Walsall approach the game. Do they go for a win knowing that 3 points will almost certainly see them safe, or go for a draw prevening us from gaining on them with games running out?
I hope (and think) that they will sit back and play for a draw. I know our goalscoring record is awful but we did pretty well at putting Scunthorpe under pressure whilst they sat back in the first half on Saturday and we should have had a goal or 2 by half time. If we can do the same to Walsall and have a bit more luck in front of goal I think we can beat them. I can see Walsall heads dropping if we go in front.

Hi guys and thank you for granting me (temporary) membership to your forum. I am not here to give it the big un, (as a Walsall fan that would be impossible anyway) so i will leave all that nonsense to the Bradford and Bolton fans.
So, onto the game.
It is going to be awful with 2 poor teams desperate not to make a mistake as that would prove so very costly. An earlier poster said that most teams come to Southend expecting a win but that is the belief of any teams and fans that we play just lately, we are awful and are the worst Walsall FC side since i started supporting them in 1968.
I don't for a moment think we will go out of the league but losing to you will make it that more difficult for us.
Good luck for the rest of the season, starting on Wednesday morning i hope !

Suprises me to see Ferguson get so many votes. When we need to score goals, really not impressed by him other than the odd 40ydr he's like a statue in midfield. And there are better statues than him. I mean Fergie over Kyle Taylor? Surely no !

Always difficult to tell solely from iFollow but Ferguson, even though he lacks mobility, looks to me like he reads the game well.

Welcome to Shrimperzone albeit for a brief spell, BeechdaleSaddler.
I remember going to your old ground in either Aug or Sept in 75, when we won 3-2, with Peter Sylvester scoring a hat trick for us ( i think! ).
Currently we're lucky to score 1 in a game, let alone 3 ( apart from a fluke at FGR few weeks ago ).
This time tomorrow, both of us will have a better idea of our fate?.

I think we've missed him a lot. His energy and tempo is infectious and he drives the team on, especially carrying the ball well against his wide opponent. If remotely fit, he has to at least make the bench.
Now that would be good if he carried the ball well with an end result.
Looking forward to it.
