Official Match Thread Southend United v Chesterfield

Seems to me that all our attacking intent is breaking down with Wood, which is a shame as he is a promising talent, but having a bad day today.

Husin seems to actually still be on international duty and our left side is showing no attacking intent at all.

Still unlucky to be behind the though.

Goal didn't look offside on the box, good timing on the run. Ralph caught too narrow, which gave the room for a quality ball in and finish.

That apart we have dealt well with them.

Could see Mooney for Wood later.

Our passing has been confident, and if Wood had anticipated Wes' cross it's 1 all. We have had chances and that's a positive.

Next goal is crucial and we need it. If we get it we could push Chesterfield onto the back foot. They get it and I fear it could be three or four.

Watching on TV. He was absolutely nowhere near being offside - played on by at least two Southend defenders. We were absolutely ****e in that first half - expect us to be miles better in the second but also think Southend will score. We don’t look at it so far today.
From where we were sitting the winger looked offside when the ball was passed to him, not the striker.

Do not deserve to be behind. The little things like not gambling, not getting our heads up, being on our heels or turning out the wrong way are making a difference. The long balls negate the likes of Coker and Fonguck, when Wes did get the ball to feet he caused havoc in the box. Kanu would have notched if playing. Suspect Mooney may be on for Wood soon.

The finish yes, well on side, but earlier in the build up - looks close, not a great TV angle.

If we had a Will Grigg we’d be at least level. As with Wrexham and Notts County last season, that’s what money gets you. It gives you such a huge advantage in this league. Not saying it’s only money that does it but blimey does it help.
