Breaking News Southend United sign Paul Furlong

Experienced head. Must say I'm rather pleased.

Lets hope he can be a Goater type player and help Walker and Barnard.

I think he could still get 10-12 a season.

Awesome. Nice to see some transfer signings coming in now.

That makes 10 first teamers.

Can't say I've seen him play - although good luck to the lad. Sounds promising - played for quite a few good teams in his career.

Was decent in his day but must be about 38 by now. Surely that must be too old to play that level of football?
Did he play for luton last year? How many goals did he score?

Hmm, a good player in his day but he's nearly 40! surely thats a little old to make much impact? i know he done ok last year but hes another year older now...Fingers crossed he stays fit and can help our younger players

Lets see how he does; I was quite unimpresssed with him when we beat Luton 2- 0 at home.Barrett and Clarke had him well shackled!

He actually managed to play quite a few games last season...Cant see him playing no where near that this season though.

tbh, i think he will be as much as a bit of a coach to the young strikers as a player. Think he might be quite good for Revell

Exciting Signing!

Naaaat...

8 Goals in 32 League Games last season... Hardly prolific and hardly a signing to excite people, but he's not being brought in for goals.

A front line of Barnard, Walker, Revell and Furlong doesn't look too shabby, but it's more the flanks that need work. Scannell is one thing, but with Gower stalling and nobody else on the horizon i'm worried.

I'll be a lot calmer if we sign Mulgrew, which looks increasingly unlikely with Swindon having a fee agreed.

Blimey im only 34 im gonna go in the loft and dust off the old new balance bryan robsons i got ;-)

Pleased. Would offer something different from the bench and highly likely to be involved in the development of current players, whilst gaining coaching insight/training.

Just pleased its not Marcus Stewart. Trust Tilly.

Not quite what I was expecting, however I hope he can do the business for us and he might even help coach some of our younger strikers.

Not wanting to draw comparisons, but if he is half as effective and influential on/off the pitch as Goater was, I will be more than happy.
