Breaking News Southend United sign Osei Sankofa

Having seen him play a few times i think this is a good signing. It's a slight risk but every signing at this level is. We have got him on a free and probably aren't paying massive wages so it a gamble worth taking. He's not the biggest but he looks a good athlete and all in all he's probably a better version of Hunt.

My thoughts as well. Sounds more like Lewis Hunt's replacement rather then competition for the Centre Back positions. If he was continually given new deals with Charlton then he must have something about him, so hopefully it works out and he can provide useful cover.

That's what we all said about Fredy when he joined. We all said he would provide useful cover for Bramble and Rawle. How wrong we were.

Echoing many people on here I'd like to welcome Osei to our fine club, looks a decent signing to me, highly rated player who didn't quite break through at a higher level, he'll be hungry to prove himself and will provide some much needed competition at the back. Good luck to him, i hope to see him doing the Blue shirt proud.

Seems like a reasonable signing as cover. He has played top flight and league 2 so he has an idea of the game.

My only concern is that he probably wont get a look in at centre back as clarky and barrett will play alongside another defender when one comes in and at right back (his natural position) i cant see him dislodging francis.

So the only time he will really play is when two centre backs are out or francis is injured suspened.

If he is happy with that then fair enough.

I'm pleased by this signing, ticks all the boxes and will settle in well with Walker

Well it is for a centre-half. Both Barrett and Clarke are that height and are frankly short. I am 6'1" and do not consider myself to be tall.
