Are you saying we got 'lucky' signing Ferninand, as Phil's first choice has been proven to be crap (I am in Mrs B mindset- stats can be twisted to prove anything- in this case Ball is crap,Ferninand is great :smile: ). Imagine what would have happend if we had signed Ball- Brown is a very lucky man and I can no longer give him any credit for gettign Ferninand . Brown Out-! :dim:

Rigsby, you have had it explained to you about general comments, Verses direct attacks on other posters, you keep using direct attacks, just because people have a different opinion.

Exactly that. Back in September we had people talking about demonstrations against Ron and to get the manger sacked. We even had people who suggested getting the players involved. Any one who disagreed was mocked as a Brown nosing rose tinted fool.

At least some have been man enough to admit they were wrong and the people who didn't jump on the Brown out bandwagon have been very gracious in the last few weeks. I for one, would have had every right not to be.

So lets leave it at that because right now I have things to do as I want the whole day free for Charlton tomorrow, which is where we should all be focusing on.....Big crowd, big game.
 
Back on topic, what a wonderful signing AF has so far proved to be. Of course, and this is for you Rigsby, do I laud PB and RM or just RM? in the past, some fans, have suggested the older, popular signings are steamrollered in by RM. Just joshing! great piece of business and with games I can only see him getting better. Calm and commanding with ability and experience.
 
MOM is always a personal opinion on here, so not to be taken too seriously. Just a bit of chatter, in truth.

The official MOM at the ground is also best taken with a pinch of salt.

I remember a post-match interview once with a manager. Think it might have been Shrewsbury Town. The sponsors voted player A as MOM, due to him bombing forward and always in the oppo half, exciting the crowd.

The manager turned to the interviewer and stated that he had spent the whole game having a go at him for deserting his responsibilities as a defender and costing the team a win.

Subjective the old MOM is.

Cannot remember the the game or player....we were in the centre circle lounge...our party of 4 and the others in the lounge were all surprised when another player plucked mom as everyone thought the other guy had it.
 
I thought Ted Smith was outstanding.

Every time it went near goal, I thought 'here comes the equaliser' but time after time he saved or punched away the danger, to the extent that when they did score, it came as a real shock.

Given he is young and had a rough time of it in the first team, he really has stepped up.

Best performance I've seen from him by a country mile.

Agreed, we now have true competition in every position, bearing in mind that we are now going into the business part of the year when heavier pitches, injuries and suspensions will start to the rear their heads this can only be good news.
 
Meanwhile, getting back to the subject of the thread, as a old defender I just love watching Anton play, I would have killed to play alongside someone like him; he has time, very rarely out of position, reads the game so well, thinks about the situation, makes the right decisions the vast majority of the time and, when needs must, he is not afraid to just put his foot through the ball.
I don't think it is any coincidence that Andy Thompson is improving so quickly alongside him, he must think all his Christmases have come at once.

Our 3rd goalkeeper is really improving as well. He's also one of the happiest footballers. Seems to really love it at Southend. Good luck to Josh Bexon for the future.
