It still does!

The thing is that the four games from Charlton through to Barnsley were seen by many on here as the ones that would sign our FL1 death warrant as we were pretty much expected to lose them all. So, a point at Charlton and a point today, against two sides battling for promotion ain't too shabby. Admittedly Doncaster was grim, but we're Southend for goodness sake. Accy next and then Bransley. If can get two points from those games then we're still in the mix for staying up.Obviously, a heartening, encouraging fightback when all looked lost. Hope we can build on this but 2 points from the last five games has put us in a potentially dangerous situation. There are five L1 games midweek, two of which involve four teams below us, so the gap will inevitably close.
It felt like it at the end!Win ???
OBL knows her stuff respectIt felt like it at the end!
The man Cox is definitely on fire! What a comeback that was, and such a performance by Cox - the proverbial game of two halves.
As others have said, Klass was quality when he came on and we truly saw what CP had alluded to when he brought him back into the forefront of the squad a few weeks ago. I think people are being a little too harsh on Hart, put in a great cross for Cox's 1st and tried hard, just not very successfully. Compare that effort and commitment with Mantom for a moment.
1st goal apart, I thought Bishop had a good game, and I was pleased to see us playing a more traditional 4-4-2 from the start though there is not a shadow of a doubt that midfield is still where our problems are. Why are two players going for so many balls in the air, does no-one talk to each other anymore?
Bishop - 7, growing in composure, imagine what a difference if he had a defence in front of him that he had full confidence in
Bwomono - 6, solid, put in a great block in those final frenetic moments, offered himself as an outlet so many times yet often over looked
Moore - 7, felt he didn't quite have the trust in Turner that he does in White, and look forward to seeing him forge a strong partnership with Lennon soon
Turner - 6, thought the old fella did ok, read the game well just can't always get his legs to do what he wants them to
Hart - 5, not as bad as some have said
Kightly - 6, ran himself ragged, not quite sure why he was kept on 10 minutes after he did his groin and a full 5 minutes after he signalled to the bench that he needed to come off
Dieng - 6, needs a stronger player alongside, put himself about a lot, looked better with Klass
Mantom - 4, really poor, he's not a captain and time CP realised that. The ironic cheer when he went off will have done his confidence no good at all though - has our crowd learnt nothing?
McLaughlin - 6, good to see him have a couple of those characteristic runs through the middle at pace, and a shot from distance, looked more like the Macca of old at times
Cox - 10, MOTM, a thorough and complete performance from our main man. Of late he's been the player who has never given up, and today characterised that, delighted for him
Humphrys - 6, can't really mark him higher as he wasn't on long, and it was during our poor period
Subs:
Klass for Humphrys - 8, a really promising performance, played the ball out of defence through midfield and found those cross pitch passes. Keep that up and he'll do very nicely
Hutchinson for Mantom - 6, did ok when he came on
Wabo for Kightly - 6, again, did ok when he came on
I think Kenny Jackets must have forgotten the objective of the game - I mean, why did he sub off their best players? Helped us out no end!

Worth noting how much more control of the game we had when we went with the 5 in midfield instead of 4... Playing 1 up top isn't always negative!
Think your ratings are fair, however regarding the reaction when Mantom was subbed, what did you expect?
It was one of the worst performances I've seen in a long time, and whilst I can take players being off form; some of the things he did today wouldn't have got him in the starting 11 of a Sunday league team!!
If he can't take that sort of reaction after that display, he shouldn't be playing professional football

Nearly every team in the Premiership plays with one up front.
I just don't agree with it, he is clearly a confidence player, as many are, and that reaction is not going to help. It's the poisonous atmosphere at Roots Hall, it's embarrassing sometimes.

I don't disagree with that either, he's not a captain, Oxley was Powell's choice - rightly or wrongly, so he was forced to find another. I believe Coker had said he didn't want it as well.Sorry OBL, it might seem harsh but he's no captain, I'm hoping the boos hammer that point home to Powell. Giving him the armband is one if Powell's worst decisions IMO. Who knows, relieving him of the responsibility might spark an improvement in form?

It's not traditional to have forwards as captains, but, at this moment in time, I agree, Coxy is the man for the job.Fair point, right now Cox is our best option IMO, I think he'd relish it.
