You're up early Stokes.

He may have been pony for you, but Laird has been an excellent player for us, which is why many of us are calling for him to get a run out ASAP.

was left diassapointed as most were, lads are starting to look tired as we all knew was going to happen as the season progressed, I think its time to rest hurst and corr, I dont know why timlin gets subbed every week when personally he looks one of the best on the feild, I think bring laird back in take hurst out, corr out and I'd like to see freddy start and maybe Williams who was impressive and sub fred off for barnard when fred can't continue, missing prosser massively, think phillips has had a few good games but his lack of pace has been exposed because of thomposons lack of pace, have to say the back line looked so flat on saturday it was shocking not even my sunday league team play a back line like that

Probably 90% of the headers he won were played backwards. We need a tall centre forward to be flicking on to an attacking team-mate. It's something that frustrates me hugely in Corr's game.

And as to the open goal? Barney was alongside him and Timlin was square in the middle. He had choices that he didn't take up.

When we played 4-5-1 We went on our best run. We then change the system and what has happend.
If it aint broke dont fix it. I have said it time and time again!!!

Corr is a target man, most of his headers will be flicking them on to a attacking team mate, but most the way we play will not be forward they will be backward (why is Hurst our top scorer).

Corr is not appreciated with the amount of work he gets through by quite a few on the zone.
Saturday he was by far our best player on the pitch, look what happened when he went off.
O.B.L.
On another note You are Freddy greatest fan!!.
Remember back to what made Freddy a lot of the player he was and still shows in parts.
Shaun Goater.
Williams on Saturday showed raw potential. Not sure if he is ready for a start yet though!!.
But what about Big Bad Barry taking him under his wing!! Too show him the ropes!!!

players up and down the country divide opinion like corr. the reality is usually somewhere in the middle. corr isnt as bad as some people think, and hes not as good as other people think. Hes a good league 2 target man and i think he could step up to league 1. hes not an out and out goalscorer unless he has very particular service, but his input is vital in other areas like defending set pieces, being a good outlet when under pressure and bringing others into play.

Could Not agree more!!

First game ive managed to see this season due to working life getting in the way, and it wasnt great.
We went the standard soft goal down then fought back and there was a moment i thought we were gonna romp it. Exeter totally outplayed us for long periods of the game, and it was good to see a league 2 team playing football and not hoofing it up to 6 foot plus strikers. Having not been but listened on blues player and given our league position I expected a bit more tbh. Barnard is never going to score without any service, and i must admit Eastwood looked a shadow of his former self. Corr ive seen much better from but he was still our most effective forward.

The defence was unconvincing and the midfield anonymous, I can never work out whether timlin is a vital cog in our midfield or a non entity! And I though atkinson hardly did anything tbh. Hurst was poor, coker was ok I thought.

Im glad we didnt play hoofball, but exeter seemed to be making runs off the ball and cutting passes and if your not playing hoof then this is what you have to do, despite barny and freddy looking dissapointing, i still have a perhaps unrealistic faith that give them the ball facing goal in the box and goals will happen. But that requires an inventive midfield...

im not in a position to judge the squad fully having only seen one game, but it seemed to me that PB got the substitutions very wrong. We never looked like scoring once they equalised which is concerning. Gomis was totally out of his depth, and apart from hustle and a stunning handball I wasnt overwhelmed with the other striker.

I can echo the sentiments of others though that i have seen laird a number of times and hes a decent player so im surprised he wasnt bought on.

Anyway, bit of a rambling match report this one but I was extremely underwhelmed and from what I saw play offs are our only hope. A far cry from the team that got us out of this division and up to the championship last time. If 433 straker and laird was securing us the wins, then lets not *** about and switch back, barney off the bench has to be as good as any sub in this league and hopefully he will find his feet.

Aldo I cant recall any songs being sung at all apart from when we went in front and the "you fkd it up" song. I cant really critisize as I dont sit in the "singing section" and am not a chant starter, but it would have been nice to hear a few "come on southends" at least. Roll on tuesday.

I'm always up early so I can find all the available worms to sustain my east London hovel.

Perhaps Laird is a bobbins midfield exponent of the Huckerby Effect?

Or perhaps we're at the stage where an Orient reject is our great hope :'(

Still, not being in the same division as you means we can't score any own goals for you, so every cloud and all that...

Bentley easily MoM. 9/10
White - looked uninterested 6/10
Thompson - slow and weak 5/10
Phillips - good goals but lacked understanding with Thompson 7/10
Coker - adequate 6/10
Leonard - adequate looked rusty though 6/10
Atkinson - adequate 6/10
Timlin - tried but not quite there 6/10
Hurst - looked off the pace 5/10
Corr - aerially good but off the pace a bit 6/10
Barnard - poor and not sharp enough 5/10

Gomis 5/10 looked like a poor mans Mark Rawle
Williams 7/10 tank. This man looks keen!

Is that a 0/10 for Eastwood?

Sat next to two of the whingiest fans i have ever come across on saturday. South Upper Block G Row C Seats 76+77. Try supporting the team ffs. Moaned from kick off to full time and barely even celebrated when Phillips scored

agreed, we were very quiet on Saturday , and really only woke up after we went -2 down . very poor, but I can't explain why- although partially because of a new song which most did not know so it never got loud

Meh. I'll take the playoffs and a pathetic defeat at Wembley. Rather be sinking from our position than yours, mind. Mind out for Accrington - they're on a bit of a run.

Time will tell I guess, now bugger off and indulge on your own site for a change.
