Why do people keep bringing up Dan's excellent record as justification for a below par game today? This is a match thread, what he has done in the past is irrelevant. If anyone was saying he should be dropped because of today's performance then sure bring it up, but nobody has and no by will.

I have never rated player by player and I won't start now. But for my money the two stand out players were BBBC and the Brian Blessed lookalike. He was, in my opinion (and that of GYS Jnr) the best player on the pitch.

Sorry for the delay!,Had a choice go to the Hall or attend an event with free booze, free booze won.

Cassidy never scored:stunned:
We were crap:stunned:

Anything else I missed?

Only most of the valid points put forward by fans who actually go to watch the games :winking:

Agree. Did anyone watch him walk off at the end... brilliant and he even made brief [non drinking] appearance in the bar. I think the adrenalin was still in full flow.

We won and even if you don't think Deegan was MOTM why was PB wrong to pick him instead of an out of form Payne who is to much of a luxury in the preferred by all 442.

The system was attack minded but the players selected do not have enough goals in them. For example, why isn't Payne selected, an attacking midfielder who makes runs into the box and scores more goals than yesterday's midfield put together.

Did we need to get more goals yesterday then? Do we now get extra points for scoring 3?

How was it below par when he kept a clean sheet. Some have mentioned his kicking, but if the ball goes out 30yrds in their half that is not a bad kick.

Think Deegan is becoming a fans favourite, fans love a player who makes a tackle and gets into the opposition like corr does! His celebration at the end by the west stand was class, pure emotion to of won the game!

Don't think they'll be releasing a special DVD for this one, but it was a game we had to win ugly! Last season we would of drawn 0-0! Cassidy is a good player and unlucky not to score forcing a good save second half. Hopefully Wolves see his goal return and sack him so we can nab him on the free!

Also worth noting we equaled last seasons points tally of 72 with 5 games to go!

Deegan's a terrace pleaser but not necessarily in the 1st XI when everyone is fit. A very handy chap to have around when we're having an off day and the whole side needs geeing up.
Having said that I think a few games out will do Leonard no harm - a shame it's come about as the result of an injury and not as the result of PB realising the obvious.
Also, whilst I'm not in the "Barratt is the messiah" camp, it's fairly clear that playing along side him has done Bolger no harm whatsoever.

Woo common sense. If we had been given that at the start of the season everyone would of taken it, and it would of been perceived that PB would have done a good job.

If we have a half decent run in the last 5 games, then in terms of points this is likely to be in the top 10 seasons in the clubs history. Will it be enough to get promoted, maybe, maybe not.

Deegan, timlin or Atkinson for motm for me. Thought Deegan spread play out wide really well at times.

Not sure I agree with raving about Cassidy. He did work really hard and did well in first 15 of the second half. He messed up when we had a great break in the first half and I felt his overall play was generally ineffective. Did him and corr pass to each other in the first half?

Agreed Deegan he had a good game, him and Timlin's energy in the middle got us through. I'm not sure Deegan would have been considered for MOM had Rovers scored straight from the 2nd half kick off when he tried a bit of showboating an gifted them the ball though

I also thought Deegan was excellent yesterday. He hasn't convinced me with every performance, but great vision and battling yesterday.

I wouldn't give his thighs 10/10 though, they scare me.

Two things.

1. At 1-0 up, we are always vulnerable of conceding a second goal
2. Goal difference could be the difference between being promoted and staying in this league another season

Yawn........

You asked a question and I gave you a valid answer. Your reply of 'Yawn' shows you up to everyone on the site of what you really are, so well done.

If we miss out on promotion, both my points are valid. We have thrown away far too many points by conceding goals at 1-0 up and we have scored far too few goals in games we have won.

I wrote on the pre-match thread,
"And he'll ( Deegan), be useful in shutting down that young lad, Harley, at Exeter next weekend...he ticks, they tick"........still stands.................... although my gut feeling is that Lennie will return next weekend, and not be brought back on Tuesday

Can't argue with any of that.

That Wycombe throw-away is going to be the real killer.....

Another good result for the team, though it is a bit frustrating that in the seasons where we have a shout at automatic promotion, a huge points tally is needed to achieve it. In the 2011-2012 season, we finished fourth on 83 points which would have seen us promoted in the preceding three seasons and following two seasons. It again looks like that if achieve a similar number of points this season, it will not be enough. In all likelihood, plays off are where we are heading but if we can enter them in good form, that will give us a big advantage!

Coming for crossing was not as good as normal by a long way, and I don't mean just the one he totally missed. he doesn't normally miss those and he normally gets more distance on punches. Yes he did some good saves, which we have come to expect. So by his high standards it was a below average performance in my opinion. The fact he didn't conceed is irrelevant to his performance. Keepers can deservedly get mom but still let in goals.

Let's hope he breaks the record on Monday
