In the new ground (if and when and all that tripe) would you welcome Southend Rugby club to play there too? I think it would help them more then us but it could raise their profile, it would be nice for the town to have a decent football and rugby team, I am not sure how many people go and see Southend RFC so it might be a stupid idea but still what do people think?

Their attendances are around the 200-300 mark I think. I'm not sure that would even cover the cost of opening the stadium.

If they get bigger, then perhaps. But for the time being Warner's Bridge is fine for them IMO.

and I suppose detriment to the pitch

Southend Rugby won't be going anywhere this season as they are mid table in National League Two - however they do have aspirations to get back to Championship level...even when they have been doing well over the past few seasons they don't tend to get more than 1000 on a regular basis...

IIRC when Rugby league was played at RH the pitch to a bit of a caning, and the recent issues at Wigan are well reported.

The only benefit would be the development of Warners Bridge and To be honest if MD RHL etc were to get their hands on WB I would imagine that would be a better site for the combined stadium anyway, espcially given the new station development right nearby

You could see the airport buying that land for a multi storey car park

Not sure it'd be cost effective to be honest... As Pubey said earlier the costs attributed to opening the Stadium, stewarding, bars/concorse staff etc probably wouldn't be covered by attendances of a few hundred.

Not to mention the need for a synthetic pitch...

I can't think of any big events that we could hold at FF...

Unless we get a racing track...

Well, Plymouth who have a stadium of a similar size, held rock concerts during the summer months. They would be no reason why we couldn't do something similar.

It would provide us with cash flow during the summer months when money is in short supply because of the lack of match-day revenue.

Don't forget, we have held Internation School Boy football, and Internation Womens football at Roots Hall. With the better facilities available, we could be looked at for England Under 21's. Col Ewe held an England Under 19 (I think) match at their new stadium.

Would love to see it, as I think the Club deserve to have their profile raised. Issue at present all boils down to revenue though.
Ron would only entertain such an idea should the figures stack up. When we completed the Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster, the rugby league franchise (based one division below the Superleague) were to share the Club, but ultimately did not attract the crowds to satisfy their hire payments to the Stadium Management Company. They dissolved shortly thereafter - bear in mind, as part of the business case, we also installed a reinforced pitch at Donny to allow its playability to be retained even after up to 60 matches a season....that wasn't a cheap addition.

It could happen, but for me, not unless there was a genuine chance of the team being able to sustain crowds in excess of 5,000, and that would only come with Guinness Premiership rugby.

Wouldn't mind that event happening at our new ground (if it happens) but that means more work on the pitch and more money investing to go on to the ground support etc etc. Which will be a bit gay because we want FF to be in the best condition at all times.

I think the land at Warners Bridge is owned by Southend Council and not Southend Rugby Club.

Dont start putting ideas into Mr. Martin's head..........take the Blues down a league or two........ no need for new stadium.............ground share with Southend Rugby Club at Warners, free up all that lovely land for developement.
