Didn't we have the longest time without a 0-0 a few years ago under Tilson?

We are one of only 3 teams in the League who have had fathers and their sons managing the team at different times.

Bournemouth - Kevin and John Bond
Derby - Nigel and Brian Clough
Us- David and Bob Jack

Austin was the first player to miss, and also the player who scored the 8th.

Dave Martin started the rot when he missed a twice taken penalty against Tranmere and Eric Nixon. He then missed one last game of the season against Brentford when he rolled it horribly wide of the goal to cost us the title.

Billy Best still holds the record for the quickest hat-trick in the F.A.Cup from the 1st.Round Proper onwards this was against Brentwood Town in December 1968 his goal times were 71,77,87,88,89 minutes. However Andy Locke beat that in 1995 whilst playing for Nantwich v Droylesden in the first qualifying round by scoring a hat-trick in 2 minutes,20 seconds.
Billy Best also scored 10 goals in the cup that season(1968-69). This is a Post-War Record that he shares with Ted McDougall who also scored 10 goals in 1971-72, ironically 1 of the goals was scored against Southend.

First team to ever win the New Den and in their first evergame there as well. Thrashed them 4-1 might still be their largest ever defeat there.

Would 83pts be the highest points tally in League 2 NOT to achieve an automatic promotion spot???
NO!

2006/7

1 Walsall 89
2 Hartlepool 88
3 Swindon 85

2007/8

worth puting in the top seven, just to note how quickly the fate of clubs can change in just a number of years.

1 MKD 97
2 Peterborough 92
3 Hereford 88
___________________________

4 Stockport 82
5 Rochdale 80
6 Darlington 78
7 Wycombe 78

That, in fact, is quite scary :omg:............only FIVE years ago and three out of the top seven that season are no longer in the Football League!

I've just read that we currently hold the record for most points accrued in a season by a relegated team - 54 points in 88/89. This record will go should Barnsley or Peterborough avoid defeat this weekend.

Still hold the record along with Peterborough now!

In the last three seasons (League games - not including playoffs or injury time) Clohessy has played for 12,279 out of 12,420 possilbe minutes... thats got to be a record of sorts?!

Pretty good record for the game as it is now.
But I know Arthur Williamson in the 1950's played 4 complete seasons for Southend without missing a minute of any League or cup match. Might be someone with a better record than that Sandy Anderson maybe?
