I went through a red light in March and had a course booked for early April at Holiday Inn, Southend. Now put back till June, will probably be canceled then due to Government restrictions that are likely to be still in place.

In my opinion a jolly at a Holiday Inn is no deterrent.

These courses are just universities of crime.

Pay attention class, this is from some very senior Essex Police Traffic Officers who I used to deal with on a daily basis.

It is the speed limit plus 5% plus 1 or 2 mph depending on the county.

A speed awareness course is usually for a first offence.

The ones I've been on they've all been driving instructors (the first one both were bikers).
But everyone had done 38 so they got that right.

With the backlog on the Royal Mail deliveries what s the score with something like a speed camera offence. Believe it's normally 14 days to receive the ticket in the post or is that the date on the letter that counts?

And yes I just went through a 30 at about 38.

Been off work for a week but there was defo a lack of speeding tickets etc that I had noticed, but presumed that was due to lack of offences being committed. They normally come thru PDQ but will depend on the place in Billericay where they are dispatched from!

Just had another 737 cargo go overhead same as yesterday SEN to Madrid .Apart from the Amazon flights can't see much else going on.France has now stopped non essential sales for Amazon
The thought of getting on a packed jolly flight to Spain etc seems a million miles away.Has anyone recently booked from Southend for later in the year .Was trying to make a judgement as to whether to gamble on October but I think this year is going to be a write off.The economics suggest Southend and such like will have to reopen in the summer but like football how can it possibly work without putting lives at risk.
Is a shock to actually see a jet trail above Southend now,but when you do its normally destination America ....the last couple being from Tel Aviv and Stuttgart

I wouldn't book anything just yet because you are now past the date where you can be compensated....If they cancel a flight in October, even if others are flying, you may well struggle to rebook/get a refund.

Going to be very unsettling sitting in a plane again even if seats are removed with the re cycled air question. Doesn't help when a couple of friends caught the virus on a flight back from Spain just before lock down

Not that I fly anymore, and my passport expired long ago. But if that that was me as a passenger, I would fly with full breathing PPE.

Spoke to the former poster known as AndyT, who is an independent travel agent and he says now is certainly not the time to book......If you book for October the airline may have gone bust so you wont be getting a refund or rebooking.

He is spends all day trying to sort out all his clients refunds and every airline and hotels has different rules. Some have promised refunds but don't have the money at the moment.

Ha! That was Rob Noxious's situation until he renewed his passport recently in order to fly over for just before Easter (for the first time in over 15 years) mainly to see our young grandson.He's re-booked for early November.Fingers crossed.

I would have thought that if EJ can't resume flights for the lucrative summer market then there's a good chance they will go bust.We'll just have to wait and see I suppose.

Good point TSNB, but on long haul flights, you'd still have to remove them to eat & drink?. I changed my flight to NY to end of Sept ( fingers x ), & the thought of sitting on a plane for 7-8 hrs without a drink, makes me shudder already!.

Some people have holidays booked for later this summer where airlines have said they wont cancel until 7 days before....If people wait that long to cancel then they will get charged for their accommodation etc.

The cost of all this will escalate way beyond government predictions and any forms of compensation will get very messy, unfair and no doubt littered with fraudulent claims.
