If you pay a ridiculous amount of money to go and watch a football match, you are entitled to expect the same degree of effort and application as you had to apply to earn that money. If you don't see that effort, and feel your investment in 90 minutes of 'entertainment' has been wasted, you are entitled to complain, whether it be at the ground or on here or in the pub with your mates. All this 'encourage at all times' bollocks gets right on my thrupennies.

fans in the north gave 100% vocal support on Tuesday for 85 minutes but its hard to get any positives after loosing 3-1 at home to a team who will probably be relegated this year

Football fans in paying a lot of money and expecting some enetertainment shock. Since the year the footbal league was formed, fans are disgruntled when their team lose and exultant when their team win. Every ground is the same. You think if we tell Smith we love him every 2 minutes of the game its going to make him suddenly be commanding in his area and come for every cross? From the games I have been to this season we (the fans) have supported the team very well. The likes of TrueBlue have drummed a very good atmosphere. If shrimperzone had existed in the 1920's, 1930's etc no doubt theyd be having the same chats and topics discussed about players in those days.

also i think any decent player at Southend at present will probably leave, hardly a player some of you havent left untouched by your razor edged tongues. Some of you and you know who you are make me sick, why cant you just support the team ,not just through the good times when they feel good themselves ,but more importantly through the bad times., when they really could do with a nice word ot two to lift their spirits.Yes we all get frustrated when they put in a bad performance as im sure they do too ,thats when they need a good word mostly. Are you really such good supporters , take a look within yourselves ,think about it , and hopefully come Saturday against Torquay instead of slagging off against someone who makes a mistake ,you can give him some kind words and hopefully lift his spirits ,then maybe sometime during that match he will do something spectacular that will more than atone for his mistake.Be the good supporters that i have read you are !

I agree with your sentiments if you're referring to comments during a game. Can't see how berating a player helps, but can understand the frustration from fans. I've let loose more than once, & I'll no doubt do it in future, but simple mistakes are very frustrating & in this game/business, emotions run high & often overspill.

You're wrong though, if you think we shouldn't criticise players on this forum. It's just that. A forum, where people, with differing/siding opinions can discuss/debate/argue their point and interact with each other. If you advocate stopping the criticism on here, the mods/owners might aswell delete this site completely.

TY for your support, porterman ,h turner and dingleydnagley.may i also add that there a a very few on here that give great delight in putting others to ridicule.the fact that i mentioned Harry Kewell has been a great delight to them ,they obviously love the fact Southend are in the basement. Here is a player who has no club , he is looking for an opportunity to show clubs he still has what it takes to play in the higher divisions, Southend can offer him that opportunity in an appearance at Wembley , what better opportunity could he ask for. They ridicule me at every opportunity they get, but so what if he says sorry no way , thats not a failure by the club , the failure is in not trying.also to the person who picked apart my grammar , my commas and apostraphes , if you had been through what i have these past 10 years ,i can assure you apostrophes and commas in the correct place wouldnt worry you.In life we are all given opportunities ,its only a failure no matter how hard or impossible they might seem to NOT give it a try.

Seriously, do you ever think Harry Kewell would ever want to play for us?

Ive always said before, booing is acceptable at Half Time and Full Time.

But its the constant abuse during the game at certain individuals and then the continued witch hunts on this forum, as ive said on another thread the witch hunt against Smith at the moment is nothing short of disgraceful !

Again, if you want to restrict or totally ban criticism, then this forum might aswell close down.

Also, have you ever said anything to the individuals about their "constant abuse"?

At the game I do not vent my anger and frustration at the players as, I agree, this is not constructive. However, time after time this season we have played absolute CACK at home and got beaten by poor teams. I'm sorry, but, that's not acceptable and to vent your frustration and anger on a message board after a game? Who cares. Better there and then than at the game! And those that do vent frustration at the game, agreed whilst not constructive MEH. You could give the argument that they're grown men, professionals, if somebody was slating you at work would you hide? Go cry about it? Get all nervous and continue to **** up. No, you'd do something about it. Prove them wrong, take the criticism on board and get better. People must think we have 11 whimps every week on the pitch that go cry to their mummy's when criticised. I love my team, as we all do, but when times are bad obviously we're not going to be happy and are privy to saying things in the heat of the moment.

But yes I agree, I am over Tuesday now (just about) and will be there tomorrow cheering the team on to, hopefully, 3 points!

COYB!

100% truth right here ^^^^

In reply to the many excellent constructive threads on this subject id like to say ty,yes i do live in Australia and dont get to see my team anymore,if it was possible i would be their every week supporting them, and in reply to GBJ , whether he would or not i cannot say ,but the failure is in not trying to lure him to the club on a short term contract till the end of the season. We all expect the players to give 100% on the field of play, why should we expect less from management in their roles within the club.

can we loose the rose tinted glasses for a moment . The anti charting started before the 85th minute, and we did not sing non stop for 85 mins . I am not having a dig, I am not saying we are crap fans but it does annoy me when people exaggerate to make us sound better than we really are. I am in the North and sing as much as anyone else in support of our team, did we give excellent support compared to the crap we were watching--- yes we did IMO , but it wasn't 100% for 85 mins. Did we put more effort into it than those on the pitch -- yes
