if you are happy for people to go around abusing people for no apparent reason that is up to you, not everyone is so willing to put up with it.

Where have I said I am happy for that?????? I said treat it with the contempt it deserves thus it's not a true representation of most fans

Yeah, most of the time whitey either tried to nick their land, ethnically cleanse them and enslave entire nations.

Hooray us.

PS: Tried to do the survey but it'd had the max responses.

But that's just high spirits or 'banter' that's got a bit out of hand surely ? :winking:

I sometimes wish the club were bold enough to take the club in a different direction, I have long admired St Pauli in Germany, they were the first club I know of who took a direct stance by placing the club as non rascist, sexist, fascist and politically left leaning with their own merchandising. The result, a club languishing in the lower leagues with 3'500 on a good day has been transformed to selling out home games with 28'000+, renowned for having a fantastic atmosphere and being completely unique with a cult following throughout Europe. It has values, an ethical standing and its a place where people will travel to.

St Pauli have their own set of hooligans everything is not so great there also why is left wing such a great thing???

They do have some issues with hooliganism away from home but it is a very fringe activity and considerably less that many other clubs of similar standing, a friend of mine attends often with his wife and teenage daughter and they have never found anything threatening, quite the opposite. My point about them taking a left wing stance is merely to highlight how a club can take the lead and make difference, it could be left, right or centre.

Yes I did!

Anyway why not just accept that ethnics don't have any interest? Maybe we should be forced to like kabadi?

Personally I don't think it has anything to do with ethnicity.

I love sport but live in Tampa and obviously have no ties to the area - we have a 'soccer' team, NFL Team, Hockey Team and MLB Team yet I have no interest in attending any of these as I have no 'tie' to the area and hence no affinity to the Teams.

I have plenty of US friends who have moved to Tampa from other areas who similarly do not attend matches as they have no ties to the area.

League 2 football will not attract the casual supporter - the quality is not good enough and the glamourising media coverage does not happen.

I suspect that most of the people from an ethnic minority are either first or second generation in the Southend area so have no affinity to the club and it's history. This probably will change over time but isn't specific to ethnic minorities, I suspect that it would be the same for a Northerner who has moved 'down South' and similarly has no affinity to the club..........next generation maybe will develop that affinity as they get older, but I suspect that their parents wouldn't be taking them to see their local Team - just like I don't take my son to watch our local Teams (prefer to see him playing at Under 12 level in any case!)

You can't judge today on yesterdays values!

Today is tomorrows past and no doubt some of what we think or do today will be judged tomorrow as wrong.

We can only learn from the past and live the future, but the past must be the past, and we must all accept it and move on!

Quite apart from the fact that I think support should not be based on where you come from but what you feel, I think it's totally untrue to cast people as growing up as "second generation" in the area wherever they come from as having little affinity to the club. My late mum grew up in Southend a child of two recent refugees from WW2 and supported with all her heart for all her life, and indeed most that she used to go to matches with were of similar background.
