It was sung a couple of times last Tuesday.

Certainly was.

My bad - (un)fortunately wasn't there last Tuesday.

I know it's hard with the problem of sound not travelling across the West, but I do think it's a chant that we could get going at RH. The tune isn't too original but the words are unique to SUFC as far as I'm aware, and that's something we don't really have at the moment.

Chanting things to wind up opposition fans, improves the atmosphere because if the away fans start singing back more home fans get involved in chants, which gets the PRO SOUTHEND SONGS going.

I understand some peoples problems with some of the songs, but sometimes you do have to question whether you would prefer to be at the local croquet club or in the stands watching a football team!

But why not sing the PRO SOUTHEND SONGS to start with! For the majority of games there will only be around 200 or so away fans so what ever they sing back is not going to generate a lot of atmosphere.

I sit in S block and there is not a problem with sound travel I just don't want to join in with such witticisms as "Your support is F****** S***"

I have no problem with people singing whatever they want but far more people will join in with positive songs to support then team rather than abuse the opposition.

Southend did/do have their own anthem, or so my father told me. it was probably back in the 30's or 40's and was set to the Eton Boating Song (youtube will help) the lyrics are as follows:

Play up United, show them how to score.
Play up United, when you us roar.
Up boys and at m'.
Our motto will always be.
Play up United for Southend beside the Sea.

Lyrics are a bit antiquated, maybe, but if Pompey can still have their chimes...

What?

Pompey have their chimes & they only sing 3 words. Most of the time the songs with the fewest words are the ones that catch on.

I have said this before but one of the songs that can get the whole ground going is 'When the Blues go marching in', it's not exclusive to Spurs or Southampton. But the problem is when the 'Blue Voice' start singing songs that the rest of the ground can join in, they need to sing them much slower to start with & let the rest join in. By the time people start to join in you are singing way to fast & the chant dies down. No one expects it to be like 'Abide with me' but please try & slow the songs down a bit, I believe songs actually sound louder when sung slower.

There will be quite a few of us at Crawley in a covered terrace so all the singers should be able to stand near each other. Lets try and sing loud & proud.

Coventry sing a song similar to this

Don't ask me, I join in with whatever is being sung!

Having said that the atmosphere against Hereford was decent.

AND tonight will be brill I expect!

SING UP!
