oi joker i stand in the terrace nearest the away seated fans and i heard a couple of coughs coming from the away fans but nothing else aprt from us chanting. Southend standing fans were loud

No, I must say that I was looking over to the other goal on a regular basis and they seemed lively and even heard them singing.

Fair play to ALL supporters tough, last night was a great night with a fantastic atmosphere created by all (mainly us though)

It was mainly you i agree because we were playing poor and when you scored everyone thought "oh dear here we go again". as i was walking to my car i hard you lot singin "seasiders" and i thought what good support but at the same time i couldnt help but feel total gutted

unfortunatly i couldnt make it the ground, but the atmos sounded superb, both sets of fans sang loud and clear but the the blues sang loudest! great match, dodgey ref (nothing new!) top result over the sheep boys! ready for another drink in cardif anyone!

Your lot wouldn't have done the same if you won?

I know it's difficult to imagine what it must feel like to beat us, but try for this moment.

I bet its totally different being in league 2 compared to the class of league 1
heres to promotion
biggrin.gif

and for you , heres to relegation

The ldv is only the "mickey mouse" cup anyway.

Yep we have already seen the class difference between League 1 and 2.

Our record this year against last years League 2 opponents:

Beat Rushden & Diamonds
Beat Notts County
Beat Colchester
Lost to Wycombe

I make that P4 W3 D0 L1

Such a class difference I'm sure you'll agree.

I have no doubt that you won't be promoted, and we won't be relegated.

yeah but the league table doesnt lie does it a look where we are and then take a look at where you are and what league you are in.

Are you just going to spend all night on this board making excuses? So what if you had a few players out, we had Prior and Dudfield out too.

Face it, we're the best team in Essex.

colchester so said your best striker was injured i assume you mean fagin the brummie lad - one man does not make a team

lets change the thread a little i keep hearing on the radio this morning your manager on bbc essex prasied the support you so called supporters gave to the team from the 2nd half and stayed till the end to clap the team off

that might apply to the small section near the seated section but the rest left before the final whistle and for the attendance 3469 at least this was made up from abt 1100 blues supporters (information from your own club) then you have sh*t support and certainly a sh*t ground you dont deserve a new ground enjoy your trip to the st mary stadium you will truly stuffed and as for promotion dream on

taxi for harris party from upminster

Quote[/b] (exiledessexboy @ Sep. 30 2004,09:39)]So many threads to choose from but I like to use of the word pride in this one, because that sums it up for me.  This was one of the most complete away peformances I've seen in three decades of supporting the club and I don't think I've ever been so proud of the team and supporters as when the winning penalty was slotted home.
Like Suffolk Shrimper, who I think I ran into, I got there at half time after the 18.02 from Liverpool St. became the 18.52, (signal 'blackout', what's wrong with faliure, at romford) and a cab to pick up ticket left with a mates in-laws who live near the ground!  As it was 10 mts. to half time I decided to grab a pint in this awful pub to calm my stress levels down, it worked, but I heard Tes's stunner on the radio.  (The Colchester commentary was truly terrible, every won header was 'supremly' won while, wait for this, "it's just like the last game, Southend going for the ariel route!"  However, even they had to sum up at half time that the Blues had been the better team.  "They look up for it".  And in the second half I saw they were.  Fight, passing abilty, the Eagle uping his game to Barratt's level, and playing more as a sweeper, good tactics, both full backs overlapping, Bramble carrying on his good form as was Gower, Gray gaining more confidence, Maher and Bentley spraying the ball about looking more Championship than League Two, and Darryl, little Darryl, two show-stopping saves in the 2nd half that kept us level.  Heroes every one.
All reports re the ref are accurate, I don't know how experienced he was but, yes, he lost the plot, especially in the lead up to Col U's equaliser.  As for the sending off, I'd certainly like to see it again but it did look as if he was jumping clear of a poor tackle.
The penalties, how did we miss so many last season.  All 5 were classics, their miss was by 2 tractors length.  Sven take note!  Pick our boys in euro quarter finals!
Last train held and back in the smoke for ten past midnight, two happy smiling shrimpers.
Hope it's a home draw now, the fans deserve it.  Great to hear some old songs as well, it was like the Radio 2 of supporters chants for a while in the 2nd half.  Still, could have done with, "you can't read, you can't write, but that don't really matter, while I'm home having my tea, you can ride the tractor.....oh ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!  COME ON YOU BLUES!!!!
It prob woz me - I had the red jumper on (away kit) and went in with two others I didn't know through the hole in the wooden gate used for dwarfs.
The steward didn't take my ticket so I have a clean 'un-used' ticket for sale if anyone is interested.
Liverpool Street woz fun last night - cause my car woz in Ipswich I had to travel through Colch when it was 8pm, a tad frustrating.
After Corbett's pen I jumped up and down with someone who I think may be known, or woz once known, as Trainspotter (would be interested to receive confirmation if he reads this stuff) - I seem to recall someone of that name from my younger days on the terraces before living elsewhere and life in general got in the way of regular SUFC matches. Still, life on the up now - three kids, all boys, and the oldest (aged 11) now a Shrimper die-hard of four years, and being brought up the tough way having to justify to a school full of Tractor Boys why he supports a team who prefer 17th position in Div 4 (or whatever its called).
