Southend airport

Pisa is the gateway to the the whole of the tuscany region. Highly recommended if you're planning to explore central Italy as the train system is excellent for getting around and exploring.
Absolutely direct trains to Florence.

Currently only BA and Ryanair fly into Pisa

It is indeed - having just returned from Liguria. Little know fact, Genoa (Genova) has 26 railway stations (and my train seemed to stop at most of them!).

when you go into the airport by the roundabout just past the zebra crossing take a first left and then a sharp right directly opposite the Holiday Inn
