I agree, I've been going to Roots Hall for many years and never paid to park. Park away from the ground in a side street and walk the rest of the way. I'm sure its also quicker when getting away from the ground after a match as well.

I always use street parking and have never had a problem. Roads on opposite side of Vic Ave round the back of Churchill Gardens - Crowborough etc, alternatively roads off Fairfax, Prittlewell Chase, even Hobleythick, there are always places to park. Don't really see what the fuss is about. There's no need to pay to park near Roots Hall.
Some people just like the convenience of a guaranteed parking space but then have to accept whatever the club chooses to charge. I probably wouldn't use club car park but I go with a elderly relative and he can't walk to far so club car park is best option for him

What the others said... Street parking. I'm a lazy sod and normally park right outside where I'm going; but at Roots Hall it's not hard to find parking within a couple of minutes walk.

Of course, when Ron and co leap into action parking at Fossetts Farm will nuke these perennial threads for ever. Not long now, by the way.
