Some points I'd like to make

Point 1

I agree with calls on this board for Tilson to get some players in on loan. We definately need at least one goal source from midfield and of course a partner for Freddy. However, Tilly knows this. Think back to the summer when we all discussed on here who wouldnt cut it and where our weak points were. The main 2 that spring to mind were the full backs. Tilly then brought in 2 new fullbacks. Our manager is fully aware of our weak points and I have every faith in the belief he is trying his hardest to get loan players in.

The main problem is that he never played at the highest level and other than Peter Taylor does not have any obvious contacts at the top clubs. I dont think getting on his back is gonna help the situation but of course everyone on here is entitled to voice their opinion.

Point 2

The variety in reports for the Leeds game is astounding. I was unfortunate enough to watch it in the Leeds end behind the goal that Blake's free kick went in at. By the way as you lot were quite a way away I can confirm Kev never fouled the Leeds man so it that sense we were robbed by the second goal. My Leeds supporting mate said 2-0 flattered them but they looked more dangerous when they had the ball n I have to agree coz for all the possession I just knew we wouldnt score.

The championship programme as always was terrible and predictably took the angle of new manager getting a win. The league paper gave Gower a 5 when I thought he was one of our best players.

Finally...what time are people with Hull ticket stubs gonna start queuing Wednesday morning?

Rant over.

Tilly has said on numerous occasions that he wants to get players in, but unless they are better than what he has already got then their is no point, which is spot on!

Also, everyone keeps saying we need to loan a goalscring midfielder, what a great idea, does anyone know of any managers who have one that want to loan him out?

Get a grip people

Maybe not a midfielder who is scoring goals right now but maybe one who looks like he might have a few chances would be nice. Unless Maher starts hitting some of the balls rolling across the edge of the box or Gower somehow doesn't get picked up when he cuts inside, I don't know how we're going to see another goal from midfield.

Gutts used to be that threat but he seems afraid of playing an attacking role right now. In fact, IMO, he's playing more and more like Maher and this is worrying.

Either play Jay Smith, or put Gower behind the strikers. Push Hammell and Francis into midfield, and play Cheese and Hunt at full back. That's my two pennies worth anyway.

Haven't Stoke just got Hendrie on loan and is he creating chances and scoring goals?

Surely we can grab a prem midfielder who has fallen out of favour, that would add a little bit of class to the midfied.

It could be the addition of one player that makes all the difference this season. I reckon we need someone a bit like Mark Bentley, big tall and strong who can attack from midfield.

I thought Clarke looked our most likely source of goals on Saturday. He hit the post the week before as well.

They have and he probably earns around 10k a week, and SUFC aren't going to pay those sort of wages - quite rightly IMO. The only way this type of deal will happen is if the Prem club pay all or part of the players wage.

Addressing the point about Tilly and his contacts other than Taylor, I think it is nonsense to suggest that just because he never played at the highest level he can't attract players. He has been pretty astute in the transfer market so far, and I think that the jury is still out on all the summer buys, with the obvious exception of Michael Ricketts.

Djemba Djemba (Villa) and Ray Parlour (Boro) could fit the mould. Played zero premier this season.

fifty squid the lot!

We will obviously have to pay more for a player from a prem club and im not saying that there aren't other options i.e. someone from league one/two... but weve already got a squad full of league one/two players.

I would rather spend money now to help prevent us slipping back into league one and lose out on the extra revenue from gate reciepts,tv, yada, yada....

What about the boy Yeates who was at Col U last season?
Has he gone out on loan again or is he still sitting in Spurs reserves?

Surely Palace have got somebody who could do a short-term job who maybe surplus to their requirements?

Exactly why I've been saying we maybe need to not just add to the playing staff but also bring in another clued up head with Championship experience in some form of coaching/advisory capacity, like a lot of other teams have recently done.

OK, straight off he would probably pick up abuse for being the ex Scotland manager, but how about Craig Brown for example?  It could be argued he was the one who sowed the seeds for Preston's current success at this level!  He must have a wealth of top-flight contacts and also could maybe cast an eye over where we feel things are slack right such such as defending counter-attacks and corners!

I mean, if Col U are attracting Man Utd loan players, why can't we? Probably Ferguson's only prior knowledge of Geraint Williams was when they cuffed Ipswich 9-0 at OT!

Yeates followed P.I.G to Hull as far as I know in a permanant move.

I disagree. ST has been on coaching courses and he met Mark Hughes there. Furthermore, we still have good connections with Wet Sham through Brush and dare I say it, Brian Dear, and we did have a connection with Curbs, before he left.

Furthermore, our youth manager has contacts at Everton even our kit man was a legend at Chelski!

Finally, Wenger, no experience in playing in the top league, also Boothroyd, Warnock, Benitez, Moyes and Mourinho

That's 6 managers who aren't doing too bad.

Ok please remember this is only my opinion. Wenger managed Henry at Monaco and so I have no doubt that played some part in his move to Arsenal. Benitez also achieved success in Spain with Valencia so his reputation in La Liga probably helped him secure the services of players such as Luis Garcia, Morientes, etc.

So yeah they didnt play at the top level but still have contacts to get in players.

Disagree here, sorry! If we, as a relatively bigger club, go in for that type of midfielder at a lower league club, chances are he'd jump at the move and his club would be mad to reject any monetary bid. There are also plenty of players like that, or who have the potential to be like that, in Premiership reserve or youth sides.

As for the 'no better than we've already got' argument, I agree with Tilly, but I can't help but think that sometimes, he's just using it as an excuse for his failure to get his targets. If bloody Col U can attract Ritchie Jones-type players, then we certainly can. There are plenty of players of that quality in the reserve and youth sides in the Premiership. They'd jump at the opportunity to get first team football, especially in the Championship, and their clubs would be keen to give them the chance to develop further. There are PLENTY of options in this mould, and if Tilly doesn't believe they'll be an improvement on what we already have then I'm sorry, but as much as I love the guy, he's living in cloud-cuckoo land.

As someone said above, he probably got quite friendly with some Prem/Champ managers at his course, and I have no doubt that some of those managers hold our Tilly in high esteem for what he has achieved over the last two seasons at a relatively young manager's age and on a shoestring budget. I'm sure some of them would be glad to help him out by sending a player or two on loan.

I also know for a fact that Tilly has lengthy conversations on the phone with Adie Boothroyd, Harry Redknapp and Alan Pardrew AT LEAST bi-weekly
