SOL coaches to Tranmere

DoDTS

The PL League Boss⭐⭐🦐
There are so many goods things about Southend United at the moment and one of them that has gone largely unnoticed is the “Shrimpers on line Coaches” which have had a remarkable rise this season. It started in September when 17 shrimpers in two cars and a people carriere were travelling to Port Vale and thought this is stupid we could run a coach instead of this, and that is exactly what they have done. Via the Shrimpers on Line website they have opened it up to others and have since transported over 1,000 fans to away games.

The coach trips maintain the attitude of travelling with a load of mates, rather than the impersonal regimented attitude that organised coach trips can have. They say there is no point travelling hundreds of miles without talking to the people around you,. I have personally been on three of the trips have thoroughly enjoyed all of them, and would certainly recommend them and their prices are extremely competitive. While coach trips are not to everybody’s taste they are, if your local, an efficient and cheap way of getting to games and these trips are the best that I’ve been on.

The Coach for the Tranmere trip was fully booked before the end of March and before it was even advertised and they have now taking bookings for a second coach.

Well said Dad of DtS.
Myself and my family have travelled on the SoL coach three times this season and are going with them to Tranmere.
From that very first day we have always felt among friends and have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves every time.

There is always plenty going on to stop you getting bored on long journeys such as sweepstakes on the days football results, DVD's and plenty of friendly banter, so well done to Wino and all associated with SoL for making it our much preferred away game travel.

After these words I'm tempted to make the trip to Tranmere and Carlisle, depending if I can get a lift. If I can't, I'll certainly consider it!

Good work

I've done a few trips with them and will be doing Carlisle. First rate, good laugh, friendly people.

Haven't used them myself, we use the Shrimpers Trust coaches and have been quite happy with them - apart from not making a stop on the way to or from Swindon. Out of interest, do supporters on SOL coaches get included in the away travel table as well - never sure exactly how that works?

Sorry about not stopping on the way to Swindon

The Travel Tables on the Trust Website only include those supporters that Travel with the Trust.

If you asked tem most probably. We are getting picked up in Brentwood by the SOL coach

I've been on the Shrimpers Trust coaches several times and they do an excellent job in getting the mass of fans to games.

I think SOl compliment the Trust and they work together, their was a joint collection for charity on the Swindon Trip.

I just think it's worth mentioning that their is an alternative, and if you can't get on one you may be able to on the other.

What attracted to me to SOL was that they pick up at Rayleigh which as I live in Hullbridge can be very useful

I have also been on both Trust and SoL coaches but just find the SoL coach more like travelling with your mates.

Incidentally Dad of DtS it was your post about the SoL coaches in December that got me to start travelling with them.

You should be on commission!!

I have used SOL coaches twice basically over Xmas & Easter when I have been back in Southend and got to say the day out has been superb.

Always good banter, everyone very friendly and run by the legend that is the Wino. Personally I would recommend anyone travelling with them. A real top day out.

Travelled for the first time with SoL to Crewe. Honestly had a great day out. The result certainly added to the enjoyment. The Grand National Sweepstake and The Top Pundit were great ideas to pass time by. Also the handout of Mini Cheddars and Cakes/Sweets were very welcome. We were regularly asked if we wanted Tea/Coffee/Hot Chocolate/Bovril etc.. seemed Wino and co couldn't do enough for us. Made for a really good trip and a very friendly atmosphere. Really looking forward to Carlisle now.

Has your keyboard developed a stutter Steve? ;)

Have been for a few trips with the SoL lads and all round it's been very enjoyable each time. Well done to all involved in the organisation of these.

I think the basis of all this is that people need to be aware of whats on offer and I think Shrimperzone is ideal for this. I'm glad that by previous posts people have become aware of SOL as a possible means of travel

A couple of days ago I posted regarding trains whereby prices to Crewe ranged from £16 in Feb, £33 in March or £64 on the day, all this information needs to be passed as soon as known not the day before you travel. (No critiscm is meant of anybody for not doing this).

We all want as many people to travel to away games as cheaply as possible, and if we all share our information and with a bit of forward thinking this will happen.

As stated previously as soon as the fixtures are out we should be investigating and posting details.

This to my mind applies to Train, Coach, Road (routes possible delays etc) Air perhaps sometimes, weekenders (hotel bargains) etc.

These posts need to be kept live rather be lost in a couple of days and I think we could make Shrimperzone the data base for all Southend United Travel official and unofficial

I know get off your soapbox

But seriously what do you think?

I totally agree with you.

I posted about a cheap deal with Travelodge at Carlisle as soon as I saw it because you don't know how long these offers last.
(By the way it was £29 for a double room on 19th April)

The more we can get to go to the away games the better.
