That's something I was wondering during the game. Time and again Gower went on a run only to stop and turn inside to get the ball on his favoured right foot, by which time Hull had got men back into defensive positions and the initial threat had been lost.

Am I missing something here? If so would someone care to explain to me the merits of playing an 80% right footed player out wide on the left.

Gower right and JCR left would seem to make more sense to me...then again, what do I know

This frustrated me so much against Leeds.  Cutting back every single time, means slowed down and gave defenders another few seconds to adjust their position to Freddys so he couldn't nick inside them.  Plus in the lower division Gower was able to cut inside and take another touch and then get a decent shot in.  Even after cutting inside about 15 times against Leeds not once did he get a shot in that was challenging.
