Question So, no worries at all about today then?

Ron Manager

formerly Libertine
There appears to be a general consensus of opinion that the panic is now over and the money owed will be paid today? Is there any actual evidence of this?

Just seems funny that after all the panic leading up to Wednesday we now seem to all be fairly chilled out and assuming things are going to be OK. Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining, this relative calm is far preferable....just hope the confidence is well founded!

So, just to check....nothing to worry about today then?

I don't know, I've actually got butterflies this morning whereas on each of the other days I guess I've been trying so hard to be optimistic and positive for others that I feel worse!

I've got butterflies, but I think that has something to do with getting married in 4 hours! :)

Well if he doesn't have the money and we go into administration today, RM will get a lot more stick than he would have had it happenned on Wednesday, I think the general consensus is that we wouldn't have asked for or got the chance to pay today instead unless we had the money available.

hey hey, congrats, hope all goes well. Not sure how much a wedding costs these days but i am sure that Ron needs that kind of money, you should be ashamed of yourself wasting all that cash on getting married when your club needs you LOL. All the best. UTB.

At the moment i have no feelings either way, i will certainly not be surprised if the money is not paid, to me this would just be typical Ron. However i think it will be paid as it now seems pretty certain that the cash came from Sainsbury. I am just not sure what is going to happen a few weeks/months down the line, i am sure that getting the HMRC of our backs (until the next bill) is going to give our club any stability. At least if it is paid it will give us, the supporters a little time to recover from this ordeal. UTB

I agree with you. But if it isn't paid ...............

If the money isn't paid I hope you cancel the wedding out of respect! Seriously, congrats, I hope it all goes well and you have a day to remember for all the right reasons!

I think the evidence has been provided to the people that matter, i.e. the Revenue and the Court.

Definitely panic over - although I don't feel we should have panicked in the first place.

Dont think we should have panicked, thats easy to say now, with the miss imformation that Rons been dishing out lately, wasnt sure if we would have club to support at all.

Congratulations! Hope it all goes well, lets make it a double celebration and pay off the tax bill today as well! :)

UTB!

I am really waiting to see how much is coughed up. There's been much talk of the £2m+ but the actual technical winding up is only for the £700k IIRC & I wouldn't be surprised if that's what Ron's found in the duvet. All the club have said is "outstanding debt". Has Ron actually mentioned £2m+?

The balance will then be settled as & when over time, with another period of bottox then.

That fbm considers this wasn't a time of real concern convinces me even more that my views on his match reports were correct. We simply don't support the same club or go to the same matches.

As it appears we have a habit of only paying what's due at the last possible moment why would we pay the whole amount when the other £1.5 million could be used for other things like wages etc ? Especially if Ron has borrowed the money as the interest would be sizeable and only add to our expenditure that we can't afford already.

There's going to be a lot of unhappy Colchester fans around today. They were hoping that we were going to be stuffed big time.

To be honest I hoped that we would pay yesterday- hten it would have been one day less of this awful time. One days interest is less than £200 and it would hav been worth the positive PR to have done this early . If course this is only possible if we have the funds.

i think the point everyone is missing is HMRC are no mugs, and we would not have been given an extension without some form of proof this money was there, on which basis im as chilled out as Levi Roots writing a jam about his favourite condiments

£200 is a weeks pay for one of the youths
