As it happens I agree. There should be a longer gap between the text that people subscribe to and pay money for and when it appears on the OS which is free. That gap should be atleast 30 mins so that those paying for the SMS service actually feel they are getting their monies worth. To simply leave it 5 mins must make people wonder why they bother paying for it.

I realise it will appear on SZ as soon as the first text is received and I therefore wonder if the fact that it will appear on sites like this, is the reason the gap isnt longer. It would perhaps detract from the club seemingly making the announcement first.

Indeed, it's the difference between pull and push technology and there is scope for them both working in parallel. You pays your money (or don't) and takes your choice.

I think the point is that people want to feel that they get the information way ahead of others. I would say 5 mins is not enough time for that feeling of "hey i might know something you dont". I guess its a bit like the feeling that £10.99 seems so much cheaper than £11. The fact its only 1p is irrelevant but it feels like its alot more.

Maybe they should consider a slightly bigger gap so that we can increase the "nothing on the OS yet" posts when those who subscribe to the text service start the threads on SZ with ground breaking news, eg "Groundsman buys new broom" and the like.

Are people that sad that they moan about this? Seriously, some of you guys need to grab a beer and chill out. If you don't like hearing the news first by 5 minutes, and would rather wait 5 minutes to see it on the OS or see it on here then cancel the service. It isn't difficult.

Several times over the years I have seen the club shun the fans and their views ok things have improved in areas I don't doubt that but still I could not give a dam about these 25p texts its not about the money its about a blatant lack of respect towards fans.

Also if I want to whine about it you will know about it.

I don't normally respond to post likes these, but I fear you're starting to lose control of yourself.

I dont mean that in a bad way - you never fail to make me laugh and I love your exclusive interviews, but I feel that your love for the club is turning against you.

It seems you are finding wholes and flaws and problems in everything and some of it is quite petty if I'm honest.

Knowing what you've been through, with a bereveament lately, I feel that maybe it might be a good idea for you to take a week out or maybe take a while out of football all together and try and sort yourself out?

Everytime I come on here you're always critising someones post or saying something abusive, and to be honest it's getting rather boring.

I think your a legend, but don't ruin your reputation for god sake.

Lets say you go allot of games, like myself and you only subscribe to news updates because you are normally at the game or near a radio so you know the score then after the game your just walking out and you get a text from the club telling you the score of the game you have just watched and being charged for telling you something you already know or don't want to know.

If I did want to know I would subscribe to the full service, so when does it make it ok for SUFC to charge you for info you have not requested?

You pay for news updates yes its good if your away from a computer and I have mine subscribed in case I am out on site or something like that but how can the club market a product that states that you will be the first to know of news, ok in a mathematical sense yes you do find out first but is 25p worth 5mins or so exclusivity? I don't really think it shows value for money.

1st point - Thats only happened during pre-season. I'm signed up to the same service as you I'm guessing, and I've recieved the pre-season results, this is the only time its happened. Technically its still news. Yes I quite like that, and can understand why you are annoyed about it.

2nd point - Technically, you still have found out this news before people that haven't signed up to this service, so theres nothing wrong on that front. If your not happy paying 25p to find out the news 5 minutes before, even thought McScriven has pointed out that it was over 5 minutes, then cancel the service.
