Superb signing - over the moon with that too be honest! Great one out of left field completely too - wonder if Sturrock has been chasing him all summer and perhaps Smith himself was waiting till the last moment to see who else came in?

I believe Belford will see out his loan, whilst Smith gets up to full fitness.

Cracking signing at this level, it really is.

Brilliant signing, absolutely nothing to moan about. Tall, experienced, been first choice at some big clubs most of his career. Not sure Belford will be happy unless he knew this would happen.

Sad that the Belford loan wasn't with a view to a permanent move, but quite happy at this news.

Wow - Sturrock pulls another rabbit out of the hat. Unbelievable signing for this level, as he's gone for big transfer fees in the past, and on paper has all the attributes that a decent goalkeeper needs. Has experience, so Chambers and Bentley can learn from him too.

As important a signing for us as Freddy was earlier this summer... Just need a replacement for Grant (Spicer is a step in the right direction, but to paraphrase Eric Cantona, we still need a water-carrier in the middle of the park).

Come onnnn, someone say something negative!:winking:

its not a proper thread until that happens

Belford was brought in as a stop cap in case this fell through as we weren't 100% sure the Smith deal was going ahead until last night.

What a top signing well done Paul Sturrock must be costing us a fair bit in wages. This is one very happy shrimper.Wheres the Doom and Gloom brigade now.?

This one's been on the radar for a while. Quite possibly signing of the summer for me. Now get us an anchorman in midfield and we should be good to go.

PS has been after a tall keeper for a long time. Hopefully Mr Smith will know when to catch and when to punch out. We have had lots of keepers that were good at shot stopping but few that could command their area or boss the set pieces. I will judge him on what I see.

What a fantastic signing, got to be one of the top keepers in the league surely. Feel that if we had someone of his calibre all of last season we would have gone up. Here we go guys, let the roller coaster begin!

Also, apparently Bristol Rovers were heavily interested! Heres some opinions from a Forest board. Looks like they have a few Wiggys :winking:

Yeah Ron Bergundy would really complete the squad wouldnt he. Jeez.

No idea who this keeper is but looks good on paper.

And everyone thought we had an imbago ;-)

Quite right. I mean we would obviously wait until 24hrs before the season starts, to sign three players. After not signing anyone for 5 weeks. Perfectly timed approach.

Exactly, always the best approach !

Saying that even with the embargo (which Im not sure why people still seem to be intent on dismissing as myth) We did still drag our feet as Im sure we could have had Spicer and Smith lined up ready to sign on Tuesday.

Still, normally we are clammering for players at the end of the window so still an improvement on other years!
