Sleeping pills on a plane

I've been thinking about this. My next flight over is on my own so I don't have to worry about looking after the kids. The first leg of the flight is something like 7 to 8 hours and at the end of a working day, the time I should be going to sleep. However I can never seem to get comfortable on the flight and sit there feeling tired and grumpy. Having a pill to knock me out till I get to Singapore would be good. Then the next long haul to Heathrow I'll be awake for but that's fine.....watch some films, read a bit, drink some beer. Then get into London in the evening and be ready for another kip and hopefully have my body clock not too out of kilter.

Any actual recommendations on what to take would be welcome. A mate has mentioned Xanax.....any experiences of that?

That flights a killer mate, on our way back from Oz after xmas neither me or the Mrs got any sleep. The 14hr flight from Kuala Lumpur to Heathrow was particulally enjoyable as the child of the couple in front just kept crying. The parents didnt think to give it a dummy, I was close to offering to buy them a whisky for the kid to knock it out.

Take a real good book. I don't think they sell 'em in Grays though...you'll be better off popping to Lakeside;)
Thing is, it'll take your mind off the fact that the bit of metal you're in is rising to thousands of feet in the air with no chance of living if you lose all power.
After a few pages it'll be nod time.
