Doesn't have to be football related - Delilah worked well. How about Cecilia. Simon and Garfunkel? My Girl Madness !!!!!
When we discussed this a couple of years ago, I thought Bridge Over Troubled Water was the popular choice. I think that would be great if we could adopt it as our "anthem"

I like Terry Alderton's song

Well I was sitting on my stall
at old Roots Hall
Cheering on the Blue and the White
1-0 up in the 81st
another two will make us alright.
Well you know what its like on a Saturday night
you've thrown it all away at the end
they say come on darling its only a game
and you tell them its your best friend

we're the seasiders, the soul survivors, the blues, the shrimpers, the barmy army
nothing's gonna stop us now
we're the seasiders
the seasiders
the seasiders of roots hall

Well I was sitting on my stall
talking football
bigging up the blue and the white
and he comes in and winds me up
talking all that claret and blue tripe
he says come on mate we're all the same
you're just like our baby brother
i said we're not cockney we're southenders
by the way we ain't your brother

we're the seasiders, the soul survivors, the blues, the shrimpers, the barmy army
nothing's gonna stop us now
we're the seasiders
the seasiders
the seasiders of roots hall

Southend til I die Southend til I die
I'll be Southend till I die
I'll be Southend till I die

Shrimpers till we die Shrimpers till we die
Shrimpers till we die Shrimpers till we die

Well I was sitting on my stall
at old Roots Hall
Dreaming of the Blue and the White
4-0 up in the 81st
we're gonna win the title alright.
Well you know what its like on a Saturday night
they wake you up before the end
they say come on darling it was only a dream
and you tell her its your best friend

we're the seasiders, the soul survivors, the blues, the shrimpers, the barmy army
nothing's gonna stop us now
nothing's gonna stop us now
nothing's gonna stop us now
we're the seasiders
we're the seasiders
we're the seasiders of roots hall

Blue is already fairly well known , being the theme tune for Playing the field a few years back

and it Has True Blue in it....

How comes this was never 'adopted' as an anthem? Seems to be all about SUFC.

or what about "Ocean Drive" by Lighthouse Family - simple lyrics & catchy chorus:
http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric....house-Family/F353A7A0F47D52BB48256958000BBB13

with slight amendment to chorus:

"we'll live on..Ocean Drive
You'l know why we're so blue
Sun's gonna shine on everything we do
and the sky is so blue
Sun's gonna shine on everything we do"

Adapted even more:

"we'll live on..Fairfax Drive
You'l know why we're so blue
Sun's gonna shine on every part of the pitch except that little bit in the corner so it stays frozen.
and the sky is so blue
Ron's gonna shat on everything we do"
