Although you are right (no pun intended) to an extent, I think there's a few inaccurate statements there. Although leaning more towards the left, I'd certainly not consider myself a complete "lefty". Many who have known me a long time can vouch for that. Plus, for example, I don't personally think someone on the left wing would say smacking children or bringing back the cane is a good idea!

I wouldn't say our American friend is completely left wing either, otherwise he would have voted for Obama.

I'd be inclined to say Overseas isn't exactly left wing either. I only base this on the fact I've never met a person who has moved countries who is completely left wing. Too many opinions vary down the centre.

You should get over it, mate. I closed the thread because it was getting to the stage where someone was about to post a thread about their favourite blade of grass at Roots Hall, and I figured it was time to draw a line underneath it.

Don't take it so personally. Come and find me next time we're in the Spread and I'll buy you a pint - and hopefully you'll realise that I'm not that much of a **** - just a bloke who, along with the other co-owners and mods, tries his best:

(a) to bring a bit of Southend United sunshine into your lives by paying for and running this website; and

(b) to make sure that some vague sense of order and decency prevails on here.

It'll never be perfect on here, because we're human - and to err is human. But we'll try our best - which would be a lot easier if people tried to work with us rather than against us, and if people didn't try to look for arguments and create vendettas where none were ever intended to be created in the first place.

Let's try to be united on this one - after all, that's the name of the club we support, isn't it?

Personally Scott I would say that the Left wing population of the board is about the same as the Right wing population. (If you exclude those who would be classed as slightly left or right of Centre) and numbers maybe 4 or 5 individuals each side.
There are a number who have particular opinions on individual subjects which may differ, but for example , there would be considerably more on here who would vote Tory than Labour, .
Don't confuse the odd glimmer of social concience with Socialism
