Shrimpers Invasion Of Wembley

Good to be back at Wembley yesterday. I could be critical about some things already mentioned but given the alternative is a 200 mile drive to Manchester, i'll put up with them gripes! Also, it's 100 times better than the old Wembley even if the atmosphere was a bit flat yesterday! That will be ok when the full team arrive!

I wondered what the smell was.... :D

I was in row 21 I think. Agree re the view, it was cracking.

Did prefer the mil stad though. Because I was watching Southend when I was there? Possibly.

Na, the smell was the after effects of the £4.50 pies!!:fart: :fart:

I sat with three mates right on the corner flag where Bentley scored. Infact we had the seats right onfront on the emergency exit a the corner flag. Decided to stretch my legs over the exit as did rest of the lads and stewards were fine.

Sadly for plaster all over my diesel jeans which ****ed me right off. Luckily for me it has all pretty much come off now.

Ended up going drinking in London and watching the dire England game in Haymarket.

Top day and top thanks to London Fatso who sold my mate Gaz a ticket for face and looked after him during the game.:finger:

My view from the top row of top tier, not a bad view!

Oh just in case anyone has not seen a post from Napster regarding Wembley - his group shockingly paid £24 for 3 pies and 3 pints!!

But Naps you did not pay for the round it was your other half's Dad so why worry?

forgetting Fossets Farm there?

I don't think you could possibly compare Fossetts Farm with a new 90,000 Wembley, can you?! There's only one winner: the London venue looks superb. Best in the world? Probably not. Best in Europe? Definately.

I was there with my Southend shirt on, Block 543 second from back-row Amazing view.

How good was David Bentley, everything went through him !

never really seen him play before. but was by far the best english player on the pitch. surely only a matter of time before he gets into the main squad.

plus his goal was pure class!

How long have you been away, there's a thing we do in England called irony - it's very funny!

Oh, and by the way I hate West Ham!!

FWIW, I thought the game itself was one of the worst games I've ever seen. The twits around me even booed when Pazzini? (The goalscorer) was subbed. Erm, it's a friendly, and he's just scored a hat trick at the maiden game at Wembley. I thought that deserved a round of applause myself....

Stadium looked quite impressive but I think I prefer the intimacy of the MilStad. The atmosphere was absolutely dire though. I was sat about 20 seats back with FA staff tickets and it was like being in a morgue most of the game. I hope it's more impressive when full with regards to noise.

Game was fairly poop and only briefly lit up by guessing where Richardson was going to mess up next or trying to work out whether Cahill was one of those 'faking it' people.

Fair play for the chap getting both the quickest goal at any version of Wembley and getting the first hattrick at the new stadium. I thought that Chiellini was superb, Pazzini, obviously, very good, and Bentley were the only real standout performers. I think we relied far too much on pace with shamefuly less talent than the Italians!

we saw you (and napper) on the platform on the way back. We were sitting down and you were walking past a full train however!

We were in block 108 row 40...

was good in a way, as altho it was quite far back, rows 41-44 werent sold, so techinically was the back row, so could stad up with no bother (except that moody steward woman who kept looking at us!)

One of the Suits who was a supervisor of somesort started flapping when he realised that the canteen was trying to sell alcohol during the first half. The Doris in charge of the servers didnt have a clue what he was on about.

No Bovril? That gripped my ****.
