Woah, bang out of order there mate.

They are there doing a job. Yes sometimes things may not go according to plan or you feel things are wrong but calling people ******* because they perhaps didn't have the required training in time for yesturdays match is way over the top and insulting to say the least.
Agree with that I'd love to see these people who moan about it behind the tills with little or no training

I don't get paid to be a Bar Steward though! If they feel that they haven't been given enough training then surely it is down to them to tell the club so and not stand like lemons like they were on Saturday!

On Saturday two members of staff were serving while two stood by the tills talking and watching how to use them. There was about six people waiting to be served at the time - IT IS A JOKE !!

I have heard of the saying "watch the till" but they were taking it too far !!

While on the subject of The Shrimpers, what has happened to the decent chairs it looks like we are being treated like low life in there ??

I won't bore you with the details but suffice to say the chair situation has been dealt with and you should be able to see your concerns have been rectified come Tuesday.

Unfortunately I heard a few people yesterday in the Shrimpers saying that they would be drinking elsewhere.

Has the fare in  the tea bars gone up by 20p per item as they had the new tills and same lack of training!!

BTW I had a pint of Marston's Bitter in the Wetherspoons near Southend Central after the game costing £1.39!!!!!!!!!!

Till training is obviosuly an essential and, I'm sure, the delays would be understood by the punters if not exactly appreciated.

I would contend, however, that it is inexcusable for beer to be served in glasses with mildew mold on them.  It is also surely showing a lack of foresight when beer runs out way before kick-off?

I'm afraid the patrons of the Shrimpers Bar were treated with what amounted to contempt on Saturday.  I'm pleased to hear representations will be made to the club at the next liaison meeting as the current level of service is simply unacceptable.

Dont drink in the shrimpers anymore because i cant smoke in there and the service is rubbish and the beer overpriced and warm. Unfortunately i went into the far post bar and waited about 15 mins to get served before the game because some bloke ordered about 20 drinks . What annoyed me even more is that i said to the barmaid that he was first and i only wanted a pint. Half time went to get anorther drink and the same thing happened. Now im no expert , but surely they could pre-pour say 30 beers and hand them out alot quicker than waiting for orders the same as they do with the burgers.

I have to agree that, as much as I would like to patronise the Shrimpers, the beer has long been of a substandard quality. I'm not going to force myself to drink badly kept beer and eat appalling food, just because it'll do the club a favour.

As much as the club has taken great strides in recent years, there beer and food situation still leaves an enormous amount to be desired. I'll keep getting my bitter at the Spread, frankly, until things get better...

Matt

Have to agree with Tommy's comments....

Surely the catering manager knows roughly how many beers, burgers, pies etc etc he sells. Its not hard to keep the pump running as you know you are going sell x amount of beers.

I also think sales would go up if we were more efficent as people I know cant be arsed with the cues a lot of the time.

I just hope the new stadium has a decent bar as I think its a little goldmine for the club that is as yet largely untapped.

One of the best bars I saw was Walsall. They did hot food before the game too at a reasonable price and beer was both cheap and easily available.

If I knew I could get a pint at half time and maybe a decentish burger, I probably would most games. As it is, my general experience is that you have to leave early at half time to get anywhere near the bar and the standard of food was terrible last time I forgot breakfast and was forced to desperation.

I go to the Last Post before home matches, sometimes you have to wait a bit but for a pint of Marston's at £1.39 I don't mind waiting an extra 5 minutes for that if it's busy, also beer & burger £3.99, value. I like to talking to the away fans before games in there, spoke to a couple Wednesdayites Saturday and they were class.

Used to drink in West Stand bar but it takes an age to get served, it's too crowded and the beer is not nice.

Doesn't the Far Post Bar do a pre-order service anymore, a la theatre-style? Certainly when I used to frequent Roots Hall more often than I do now, you could pre-order drinks which would be ready at the far end of the bar for when you returned at half-time. One assumes this practice has been stopped?

They do still do that Mike, as i know Andee and Mr B still use the service. But im not sure that many people are aware of the practice ... or just dont take advantage of it!

The problem there is that it gets poured straight after kick of so its warm and flat by Half Time.

Regarding prices, I can't see too much of an issue if they haven't had one for a year, although perhaps they should have started it in pre-season. And the one thing that you can guarantee is that it must be cheaper than The Spread (surely the most expensive pub in Southend!)

All this explains why the Shrimpers Bar was IMO half empty on saturday (or was it half full?).
Didnt notice the price increases really as I pay extortionate prices working in London anyway and anything cheaper is a blessing, but why is it every week the Cider is either off or ran out ? And it has become "every week". It was the same story at Half Time in The Far Post. So I opted for a nice Bottle of Bulmers (in a Magners lookalike bottle) only to be told that the bottles were "for display purposes only" and that they didnt actually have any. Went back to my seat and caught the back end of the Blue Belles (now there's a thought). Didnt get much of my money this week Mr. Barman....

Last time we went in the Shrimpers Bar (Sunderland) ew didn't get served after 15 mins and walked out.

Time before that (v Stoke) we got served but drank up in two minutes to avoid heat suffocation.

Now use the Garage behind the South Bank - two cokes for £1.50 (and cheap grub if needed with quick service), pocket the bottle tops before we get in and sit down 30 mins or so before kick off in our seats to watch the match build up, players training, chat with our seat neighbours etc. Cheaper, more comfortable, pleasant and more rewarding.

Another fine example of our beloved Club crapping on the fans and as a result crapping on themselves. But we love 'em really.

Up the Blues:)

Due to the nature of this thread, should it not be moved to the new Feedback Thread so that it doesn't get lost when and if the time comes to talking with the club?

I can move it, but want to see what others think first.
