Shrimpers At The Ashes

I shall be at the Adelaide, Melbourne & Sydney tests and the 20-20 game at the SCG.

Look out for the South London Shrimpers flag.

I am extremely jealous. My in laws have got tickets for the 1st Test (as Kiwis living in Oz I still haven't established exactly who they'll be supporting yet).

When I went to one of the One Dayers at the SCG on the last tour I drank in a pub before the game that was completely decked out with St George's flags - it was like being in The Torch at Wembley before a football international.

As far as the Aussies go you'll have a great laugh with them - they love their sport and are very partisan. However I like that, it's how I am with my teams (be it England or Southend United). They will give out a fair bit of stick but are happy for you to give it back. It's just like our football banter and if you give as good as you get they'll keep drinking and chatting with you all night.

I'm aware of this & I've been told that there are 3 designated Barmy Army pubs in both Melbourne & Sydney, with possibly being a 4th in Sydney. When you consider that there will be over 40,000 Brits in Oz for the Ashes, you might see the odd St Georges flag.

I cannot wait & hope to see a few fellow Shrimpers out there.

Got my ticket for Sydney Day 3. After todays performance, i'm not sure whether to be happy or not!!

OK... Scratch the "win" part.

I'm going to be in Oz for the Melbourne & Sydney Tests (4th & 5th Tests.) So while you are all freezing your nuts off at Norwich on Boxing Day, I will be at the MCG with a cold beer in hand with 100,000 others watching the cricket! Jealous yet??!

I already know a fair few people that are going to be there, but wondered how many others are making the trek out to Oz.

Also, I've suggested that on the first day of all the Tests, that Southend shirts are worn, so that we can be seen by the entire cricketing world. I'm also intneding to take a number of SUFC pin badges out with me. Any chance of a discount Steve??
I love cricket, but I would rather be at carrow road
