Question Should we be more polite towards Col Ewe fans ?

fully agree best best time to bring it......however colchester shrimper(ur going in the scum end because of tickets arent you?) so maybe give it to 1 of your mates in our end......be good to see it from where your sitting........
maybe comment on it to somone next to you? see there reaction.

I have to admit 'yes' to the first question and 'actually no i don't have one' to the second. However if anyone wants to fly a flag in my honour i have no objections!

cant see there being anywhere to put them no empty seats?and their funny about putting them over advertising.

good luck

Word is that Col Ewe are having trouble selling tickets for their end and are thinking about offering cut price deals for family members.

Its difficult at present to judge reaction ..

Historically, Colchester never had any real Rivalries with Southend , Even thier Rivalry with ipswich was due to the proximity of the towns rather than anything on field.

Colchester Town were an amatuer team playing low level regional football until they formed Colchester United as a professional side in 1937. By which time Southend had been playing league football for 15 years and Ipswich were to join the league the next seaonseason.
Colchester got league status in 1950 and that season we played them for the first time beating them 4-2 at Grainger in front of 21000 and 3-1 at layer Road

Colchester also tend to change their rivalries to fit, Ipswich, Wycombe and us are listed as Rivals.
Mind you we could be said to do the same, this we hate Orient thing is new to me, I mean we didn't play them at all between 1955 and 1981 ! And the West Ham thing is not exactly on the pitch related either....

What I am trying to get at is , this "rivalry" thing is hardly a big deal, its got no historical reason and no geographc reason There are 5 league clubs who are closer by road (6 if you include Dagenham). Its hardly liverpool / Everton , Arsenal/ Spurs, Rangers/ Celtic is it ?

Its our only proper rivalry in Essex though.

But again, historically it isn't.

Both West Ham and Leyton Orient being in Essex up to the formation of the GLC in 1965

what I am getting at , i suppose, is that whilst it is currently felt as a keen rivalry, it is nowhere near numerous other rivalries in terms of history, location etc

I understand what you're saying, its not a "proper" derby in the real sense of the word.
